Take a break from your story, even if it's just for a day or two. When you take some time off you read your book as a reader, not the writer. As the reader you see things, the writer doesn't, which sentences shouldn't be there because they're confusing or unnecessary. Which plot points are too obvious or too complicated? Reading your own work with fresh eyes can give you a fresh perspective on what needs to be changed.
1. You can do this by printing out your story, so it has that physical feeling a book gives you.
2. When you're stumped, it's okay to take a month's break away from your story. Forcing yourself to write can be shown in your writing, and you'll be surprised by how much insight you can get from a break.
WARNING:
It's okay to take a break, but take a well-timed break so you don't lose complete interest in your book.
