Dialogue marks the character's words, and like we all know, are usually placed within quotation marks. Dialogue can say a lot about a character's personality by showing what they say and what they choose not to say. Dialogue should sound like a conversation real normal people will have in real life, it shouldn't be so fancy or forced. Readout your dialogue with a close friend and see if it sounds like something a person will say if it sounds normal.

1. Dialogue between two people sheds light and insight into their dynamics and personalities.

2. It doesn't even matter what they say. You should focus on what the characters choose not to say. For example, it upset a little girl that her mom couldn't make it to her piano refitment, so she doesn't bring it up during their conversation. She says, "How was work?" instead, its form of writing can reveal a lot.

3.Over using dialogue obtrusive tags can make reading boring over time, use "Jessica stated...." instead of "Jessica said.."
