Just like how artists have a unique art style, authors have a distinctly unique voice (writing style), this is how your die-hard fan readers know your writing when compared to any other author. Your words should have a quirk and rhythm no one could dream of duplicating cause it's just that unique. At the beginning of your writing journey, it's natural to imitate your favorite author, but as you move forward in your journey find a unique voice.
An author's voice describes your own sound, not just the way your character sound. Every work is uniquely put together by you and contributes to your voice.
