Hoseok POV

Later that night, I land running, passing my brothers as I charge through the door of our house. I don't stop to acknowledge Namjoon, who is standing in the front room ready for the day's briefing. All I care about is getting changed and finding my way back to Lex.

I dash out of my room, dressed more casually than my previous attire when meeting with her. I see Yoongi at the end of the hallway and go to dodge around him but he grabs my arm and stops me.

"Hobi, don't forget to give your report to Joon," he says casually, but I know his look is stating it as an order.

"Yeah, yeah," I reply, waving him off.

Yoongi lets go of my arm, but watches me until I sigh heavily and walk over to Namjoon.

"How was patrol?" Namjoon asks, while looking down at some papers.

"Great, fine. All went as expected," I answer.

"Oh? and was there anything you were expecting?" He continues to ask, glancing up over the paper he's holding.

"What? Oh, um, no, not expecting anything, just saying it was a typical patrol," I say trying to get this over with as soon as possible.

"There's nothing typical with humans," Namjoon chuckles. "Anything needing attention?"

I run my hands through my hair, exasperated. "Yes, I know. I just meant what was required of me and my services were the usual. Save those that had the mark, comfort those that didn't, console anyone needing it, you know, a typical patrol."

Namjoon puts his paper down and gazes at me. "Hoseok, you're usually much more thorough with your reports. Do I need to be concerned about how you're performing your duties?"

"What? No! I'm just trying to tell you there was nothing especially important to tell you! Now, may I please go?" I beg him. My desperation is palpable and I know he is aware of why I'm in a hurry.

"Didn't we have a deal, Hobi?"

I turn towards Yoongi as he ambles into the room. "What do you mean?" I ask him.

"You were going to give it a day, remember?" He explains, nonchalantly plucking a grey feather off his arm and watching it float down to the floor.

"I-I did," I retort, "I been gone all day."

Yoongi looks up at me with his inscrutable expression. "A day by definition is twenty four hours."

My jaw drops in dismay. "I didn't think you were being literal with the time frame."

"C'mon, hanging out with your brothers can't be all that bad?" Jin jumps in, as he walks into the room behind Yoongi.

I slump onto the couch, feeling defeated. I'm being outsmarted by my other brothers at every turn.

Yoongi comes over and sits beside me. "Go tomorrow. She'll be fine," he whispers to me.

All I can do is nod solemnly.

He gives me a small smile and pats my knee in reassurance. Looks like I'll be missing Lex longer than I had anticipated.

Lex POV

I wake up to the sound of a notification on my phone. I pick it up and smile at the name a top the message.

Morning, beautiful! I know there's supposed to be some rule about waiting  24hrs before texting after a date, but what can I say, I'm a rebel
