Year 2

May 31st - Friday - 9:00 am

School unfortunately had been very awkward for the past few weeks. Thankfully, we have exams to focus on instead. I never thought I'd say that. Today was the last day of term, which meant we were to be going home soon. Not that I'm not excited but I haven't talked to Ed since Christmas, not that he has really noticed, or at least he pretends not to. The only person that is really talking to me is Sting.

I had met Sting not long after the failed quidditch match rather distraught with his new girl friend, Layla, or something of the sorts. Both their eyes were red, their noses stuffy, and when Sting talked spit stuck to his mouth like it were dry. Everyone was making too much of a fuss about Hermione, to even acknowledge them. "Lucy" was what he kept repeating through sobs. His friend not much help either.

"Lucy?" I put my hand on his shoulder and he lifted his tear-stained face to look at me "Who is Lucy?"

"Lucy is - is – is –" he was slightly frustrating me at this stage,

"Lucy also got petrified, except nobody cares!" Layla had shouted the last part or was her name Lana, I don't know. "the only people that care at all for her is us, isn't that terrible? Not even the teachers gave her a second thought, just whisked her away to the hospital wing. Everything is al about Hermione all because she's friends with that stu-"

"Enough. Badmouthing either of them won't help" Sting had butted in. The blonde girl nodded regretfully. "Anyway Win, thanks for at least asking, Merlin knows no one else will." And with that, they both headed off toward the hospital wing, which I believe Jess had met them there.

Now Jess and I were pulling in the last bits of study for this exam, and we were free. "I'm going to fail." She slapped her hands by her side and sighed.

"If you're going to fail, then I'm not even going to sit the exam." She shook her head and laughed slightly, still scanning frantically through her notes, "You'll be fine."

Jess decided it would be in our best interest to go to the hall early, something about "it will make our mind at peace and the knowledge will just spill out of us." I didn't even bother arguing with her, I just followed as she shuffled out the door of the library.

Halfway to the hall, we spot Ed walking hurriedly towards us. Well past us I suppose because he did not stop till Jess said something.

"Sorry I am distracted. The mandrakes should be ready today and I don't think I'm doing well in any of these tests, I am worried sick about Hermione." I rolled my eyes at him, I realised what I was doing and caught myself quickly.

"Where are your minions?" I asked him, not intentionally meaning to sound harsh. "I mean friends."

"I'm meeting them now, I had to get something." He glowered at me "Where's yours?"

"Right here." I nudged Jess on the arm with my elbow. She shot me a warning look and I retracted my statement "Joking, they're probably in the common room."

"Along with mine." Jess shot in "We wouldn't know really considering we actually see our other friends."

"You can't expect me to drop everything right now. Jess, Win my friend is petrified, don't you get that? Imagine it were me or you, you would do the exact same, try to figure this out." He sounded shocked. "One minute she's there, next minute she's no better than a statue. What do you expect from me?"

"How do you know we're not going through the same thing?" Jess narrowed her eyes at Ed.

"Well are you?" he copied her eye movement "I'm nearly quite sure I would have heard about it."
