Year 2

Thursday – 28th September – 2:45

School was going just fine until Professor Sprout decided it was a good idea to change our partners in Herbology 2 weeks ago. I no longer sit next to Win but this new foul, Slytherin boy who I disliked more than Draco Malfoy and that's saying something.

I dread every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday having to go to that awful class. Today was no different. The golden haired boy was sitting in his usual seat down the back of the class by the time I got there, his curls hanging low on his forehead. I stalk my way over to the chair and pull it out for me to sit on while he scowls, the usual. My books placed neatly in front of me and... collapse straight to the floor, my arse smashing hard against the cold, wooden floor.

I looked up furiously at him, throwing his head back laughing his hand on the back of my chair. "I could've broken something!" I stand up patting down my skirt, my face a sure shade of pink.

"Yeah I wish you had of broken your ass, how funny would that have been?" he said in between laughs.

"You're a foul excuse for a Wizard" I snap at him as I take my chair harshly out of his hand.

"No your daddy is a foul excuse for a Wizard, Black." Jace says in a low hushed voice, throwing me off guard.

"Yeah, maybe he is but actually, I forgot to tell you, he told me there's a cell in Azkaban with your name on it, better get going Cooke." I rolled my eyes and opened the large book in front of me. The pages were fresh and still gave off the new book smell. This familiarity relaxed me slightly.

Jace made a sort of hissing noise but I brushed it off, not wanting to talk to him anymore. Professor sprout informed us we were going to the greenhouse today and will be doing practical work. Thank God was all I could think to say.

I shoved my seat back gathered my things and headed for the door. Jace moved quicker than anyone I've ever seen, he was at the door before anyone had even got up. He was joined with his usual pack of idiots, Blaise Zabini and some other blonde boy I don't know the name of.

I glared at them all as I hurried out of the room, which obviously wasn't quick enough because before I knew it, I was knocked on the ground, my books sprawled out in front of me. The distant sound of laughter infuriated me even more and I scrambled to get up without saying a word to any of them.

The greenhouse was no different, just as you think you're getting away from someone, Sprout has the audacity to say "with your usual partners." And quickly Jace was by my side.

Jace didn't help once, he sat back and picked at his nails, occasionally making a comment about how I need to shower or my face looks better covered in mud. But I finished, proud of what I had done, I raised my hand for Professor Sprout to take a look.

"Be over in a minute dear." She said.

"Let me see our work." Jace shot out of the chair and over to the huge flowering pot. He fingered the mud slightly, "Stop, your going to ruin my work!" I slapped his stupid, fat hand out of the way.

"No, Black look you missed that piece there it's all wrong." He sounded genuine.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion because I triple checked and know I'm not wrong. I'm never wrong. Still, I pushed him out of the way and bent over the pot. "Where?"

I could feel his presence lingering behind me, so close he was breathing down my neck. "Right there, see?" he was pointing to a darker patch of wet mud, which looked fine to me.
