Year 2
Tuesday - 25th December – 2:00pm
The train was long and none of my friends decided to come home for Christmas. Don't be fooled of course I'm grateful Jess allowed me to sit in their compartment, but I would've preferred to have sat with my normal friends.
Draco was staying behind because of his family along with Crabbe and Goyle. Pansy maybe as well but I couldn't say for sure. Now I'm preparing the table for the guests later.
The table was long oak and lined with linen white cloth. Assortments of plates were placed at each seat and a festive Christmas cracker for after. My mother has just taken out the turkey and ham, which are now placed in the centre of the table. The sweet scent filling the room. A range of vegetables and potatoes dotted around the table.
My brothers were doing their annual argument with my parents while I just watched and listened.
"This isn't fair; I should be allowed to invite my friends over for Christmas. It's boring for the rest of us." Charlie whined. "even if you just allowed me to stay at Hogwarts, would be better." Charlie was in his fourth year, Ravenclaw, and begged for the same thing.
"No, you know that by now. We invite our family and friends, when you have your own house you can invite whoever you want." My mother snapped.
"yeah well I won't be inviting you, that's for sure."
"Charlie that is enough out of you." My dad was putting the rest of the beers in the fridge.
"But father, Jer and Simon get to have people over." Charlie slapped his hands against his legs in frustration. Jeremy and Simon were my other two older brothers. Jeremy in his fifth year, Ravenclaw, and Simon in his final, also Ravenclaw. So you can imagine the shock when I get placed in Slytherin.
"Girlfriends." Simon corrected Charlie.
"Whatever, you want to call them." Charlie rolled his eyes.
"little brother we have been through more of these than you have, it's basically the same" Jeremy spoke calmly which only annoyed Charlie more.
"You're only 1 year older than me!"
"And what a wonderful year it was." Jeremy sighed, this caused a round of laughter from everyone... except Charlie of course.
Jeremy and Charlie looked very similar, if you didn't know them, you would probably mistake them for twins. They had the same darker complexion as my Father, with very dark eyes you might mistake for black. They were both tall and slim like an athlete yet neither took much interest in quidditch, but they were talented at it. Jeremy had a buzz cut while Charlie allowed his dark curls to form freely on his head, that was how most people told the difference between the two.
Simon on the other hand, everyone says I look just like him. Our skin is a lighter shade like our Mother. Our eyes pale blue eyes are our most striking feature, my mother's also. Simon was also tall but with a rather stocky build unlike myself who is still small and fat. His hair was twisted so perfectly into dreadlocks that I will one day get. Simon has played on the Ravenclaw quidditch team as a beater since his 2nd year and he is truly exceptional.
The doorbell rang and I raced to get it. Sting and his father stood merrily at the door, presents in hand. Their faces were red from the cold and his father's plump figure was shaking rather rapidly. You'd think he'd have more body heat I thought but would never dare say.
"Am I first here?" josh said as he took a seat on one of the many couches, our parents were off in the kitchen, probably drinking.
"Yep, well we're only waiting on Jess really since Ed decided he wasn't coming home. Well I suppose his father will be coming over actually so him also. Then my brothers girlfriends." I replied.
