All the school has talked about today is the message on the wall and the chamber of secrets. If I hear the any of those words again, I promise I'll crucio whoever said it, it's driving me mad. Mr. Filch wasn't helping either, he keeps pacing the spot where it happened which is keeping it fresh in everyone's mind.
Lunch was packed full and the murmur of voices was overwhelming. "Jess, what do you think the chamber of secrets is?" Molly asked me, which snapped me out of trance.
"What?" I looked at her confused.
"I heard Professor Binns told the history of magic class today. He would never do that for our class." Alex put his head on his hands and glared over towards the Gryffindor table.
"I don't understand how no one knows about any of this? Has no one read Wizard legends and conspiracy's; Britain Edition." I said.
"No." they both said flatly and in unison.
"Oh." I said a little embarrassed
"So you know about this?" Alex leaned over the table so close I think he thought he might be able to hear my thoughts.
"Well," I said pushing his head back to the other side of the table "I know the legend, whether it's real or not I don't know."
"And you've just been keeping this from us!" Molly snapped.
I shrugged "I thought everyone knew, my mother gave me the book when I was younger."
They book just looked bewildered, "So guess I'm the only one then."
"Yes, because we all grew up with normal books." Molly said.
"Can you both shut up and tell the story." Alex started clicking his fingers in my face.
"First of all don't ever do that to me again." I snapped my head towards him and he coward back in his chair "Secondly don't take any of my words to be factual because I'm not taking the blame if yous go spreading shit."
They both nodded their heads.
"So, the factual part is that we know the that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age. They built this castle together, far from prying Muggle eyes, for it was an age when magic was feared by common people, and witches and wizards suffered much persecution."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah we know all that." Molly rushed.
"Okay, relax." I laughed "they all worked well together, never anything wrong, for a few years. They found kids with any sign of magical ability and brought them to the school. Then things started not going so well, Slytherin and the others had a bit of tension. He believed that magical learning should be kept within all-magic families. He disliked taking students of Muggle parentage, believing them to be untrustworthy. After a while, there was a serious argument on the subject between Slytherin and Gryffindor, and Slytherin left the school."
"So that's why Slytherins are the slimy gits they are now." Alex said.
"Hey, not all of them, some yes. But my best friend is in that house, so don't say that." I snapped.
I pursed my lips, "Where was I?"
"Salazor Slytherin left." Molly reminded me.
"Oh yeah, so that's all the reliable and factual information. The legend starts here; Slytherin had built a hidden chamber in the castle, of which the other founders knew nothing. Slytherin, according to the legend, sealed the Chamber of Secrets so that none would be able to open it until his own true heir arrived at the school. The heir alone would be able to unseal the Chamber of Secrets, unleash the horror within, and use it to purge the school of all who were unworthy to study magic." I finished my story and took a bite from my bread roll. "That is believed to be some sort of monster, which the Heir of Slytherin alone can control"
