Kite

We used to be intertwined-
Our whole hands would mesh together.
But now I wonder-
How yours and mine-
Really fit together.

I want to hold you tight,
And never let go.

Don't want to say goodbye-
Or say hello-

Because that will have meant I lost you.

We were like a kite-
On a sunny day,
When there was no wind in sight.
I held you close-
You wouldn't let go,
But that's okay-
I wouldn't either.

But then the wind picked up-
And you blew out of my arms,
And you went where I cannot follow.
Up to the clouds.
In the skies.
You soar above it all.

We are only connected by a thread-
One I'm not letting go of.
But what if it breaks?
What if you fall?
Will I be able to save you?

We used to be intertwined-
Our whole hands would mesh together.
But now I think-
I'm losing you,
You're slipping through my grip.

Please come back.
