A few days after, their apartment still had a heavy atmosphere. Nothing too drastic, but the silence that filled the rooms was noticeable. White noise filled most of the emptiness, whether someone was reading a book and flipped a page, or whenever Holly made his way around the apartment, his little paws tapping on the floor as he went.
During the late afternoon, the three would actually sit together for dinner. They talked over dinner, Yoongi seeing a little more relaxed than the previous days. But Hoseok still had that feeling in his stomach that he would have an outburst. Last time he acted everything was fine and in the end it wasn't. So he was being weary and cautious. Jimin would be the one talking and cracking jokes to lightened the mood. It worked magic most of the times. The oldest just tried his best not to let his emotions lose.
It wouldn't be fair for them if he did. Not again.
Despite all, a sense of calmness and normality made it's way back as well. Jimin and Hoseok went to work, both going together for the sake of spending some time and discussing the situation at hand since they couldn't at home. Yoongi spent most of his days in the house, only every now and then leaving for a walk with Holly.
After their agreement to the bracelets, neither of the three had taken it off. Yoongi found himself staring at it often. Or the ones on their wrists. Trying his best to see if it would trigger a memory or something. But it didn't. Not yet anyways.
Yoongi sat in the living room, staring at nothingness when Holly made his way up the couch and laid down next to him. Automatically, his hand went to pet his head. His eyes were averted towards him, a small smile playing on his lips. Seems like Holly was the one glueing them together most of the time.
The piercing ring of his phone resounded on the walls, his nose scrunching up at the noise. He sighed, sitting up and grabbing the device from the table. Across the screen the ID read "WORK".
"Hello?" he picked up, getting up from the couch and walking to the kitchen to see if he was motivated enough to find something to eat.
"Yoongi! Hey! This is your boss, Jeong-hoon. How are you feeling? We haven't heard from you in a while," he asked from the other side of the line.
"Oh, hey," he replied softly stopping on his tracks. He had spoken to him before when his accident had happened. Although he doesn't remember anything from the past, he knows who he is by now. "I'm-" he took a pause, thinking of the right words to say, "I'm hanging there. I apologize for not getting in contact before. Things are still, not quite there."
"It's okay, your fiancee already spoke to me earlier this week as well. I just wanted to hear from you. Your coworkers have been asking about you recently and I wanted to make sure things were okay."
Fiance...Was it Jimin or Hoseok? Not that it mattered really.
"Ah, I see then," he scratched the back of his head nervously. "Thank you for your concern."
"I'm sure things are though right now, but try not to stress it too much. I'm sure everyone has been telling you that recently, so just hang in there, okay?"
"Right," he looked over at Holly who was now by his feet looking at him.
"Well, I don't want to be that guy,, but I also wanted to know when you think you will be coming back? I'm not rushing you by any means, I just need to know more or less so that I can adjust tasks accordingly," Jeong-hoon spoke, his voice sounding calm.
"Honestly, I don't know. I'm not sure how I will react or how things will work when I get there."
"That is fair," he laughed. "Whenever you are ready just let me know, we would love to have you back at the office."
"Thank you for that."
"Well, I'll let you be then. Keep me updated okay?"
Yoongi stayed quiet for a moment, debating whether he should asked what was going through his mind of he should just let it be. Going to work might be the one thing he needed right now. Maybe it will help answer most of the questions in his mind. Or it would quiet it down from the endless stream of thoughts. He needed an escape from the same four walls from his place. He either saw the room or the living room, nothing else. Unless he took Holly out.
Staying home however calmed his anxiety. He didn't have to deal with meeting people outside who apparently knew him but he couldn't recall. He felt safer closed up than stepping out the door. His psychologist told him that wasn't a healthy habit.
He decided in the latter before his boss could hang up.
"I'm sorry. Could I actually, just go by tomorrow? See if I can get myself somewhat situated before going in for work? See if I can get comfortable with everything," he spoke quietly.
"I say that is great idea! Come by any time then. Maybe some of the things in your office can help you."
"Yeah, maybe."
"Perfect, I will be seeing you tomorrow then."
"Thank you Jeong-hoon."
They both say their goodbyes before hanging up the phone. He placed the phone back in his pocket and sighed looking ahead, lost in thought.
This might help. Or at least he was hoping for it.
"Alright, let's cook then," he spoke to himself looking at the clock on the wall.
Both Jimin and Hoseok should be out soon, so maybe starting dinner now would be a good idea. They could come home, shower and get ready for the night and then they could have some dinner together. The three of them.
With that thought in mind, and a small unnoticeable smile, he started getting out everything to get food started.
