I went on with my day trying to forget. I got paged. Code blue. Katie Bryce. Meredith? I run to the room to see her monitor still going. "What the hell happened?" I yell. "She seized. Her heart stopped." Meredith said out of breathe. I checked on her I just-" I didn't mean to but I cut her off. I know sounded upset. "I got her just go." Meredith walked out of the room disappointed. Even though I knew she saved Katie, all of the emotions came at me at once. I felt horrible. Katie is alright. But her diagnosis is different. Speaking with the parents was hard. Mr.Bryce was very aggressive. But, I understand. We need to figure out what it is. I go along and ask the interns for help. "Whoever finds the answer gets to ride with me. You can scrub in on the surgery." Everyone looks around. They get moving. Christina and Meredith approach me a few moments later. "What if she has an aneurysm. She twisted her angle. What if it burst." They say. The elevator begins closing. "That's a one in a million possibility" The elevator closes. But for a moment i think. The elevator opens. " let's go see if Katie's one in a million." We check her scans and their correct. She is in fact one in a million. "Sorry ladies. there's only room for one in the OR. Dr.Grey scrub in." I look back down to Katies sheets. I feel tension between the girls. I simply remove myself. A few moments later Meredith approaches. A smile enters my face. "Did you only chose me because we slept together." she asked. I was amused. "Yes I did." I laughed. "I'm kidding. I chose you because you earned it. Katie is your patient. You deserve to be there from beginning to end." I reassured her. Surgery was successful. Meredith expresses the rush from be being in surgery. "That was such a high. I don't know why anyone does drugs." She explains. I smile as I start walking to finish Katie's chart. "See you around." I say. She smiles at me. She's so amazing. I've never seen anyone so exited about swings someone's insides. She's going to be an amazing surgeon.
