Another day. 4Am. On my way to work. I walk inside to see meredith. "You're here early." She says out of breath. "Yes. Well I have a chordotomy at 5. Leaving at 6." I respond. She looks at me. "I thought I could buy you breakfeast before your rounds?" She looks at me. "I already ate." I missed it. "What'd you have? Are you a cereal person? Or are you super healthy with all the Fiber and Fruits?" I laugh. "Left over grilled cheese." She replies. Very seriously I may add. "I want to be professional." She says." I look around. "Fine let's be professional." I smile. She looks at me. "Your gonna be late." I look at my watch. She's right. "Nice talking to you Dr.Grey." I smile and head to the O.R. It was a successful surgery. I had doubts about this one but we made it out. I got paged by Meredith. What I see? Crazyness. Nails in his head. "Get a history from her before you scrub in" I say to Meredith. "Okay." She replies. "Thank you." I head out. She returns to the scrub room. "What made him fall down the stairs with a nail gun?" Meredith asked me. "He said he tripped. Just because you hear Hoofbeats don't assum zebras." I say. "Something caused him to lose consciousness and fall down the stairs." She says. I agree. But what could i possibly do. "I have no idea why he's still alive. Let's just be him through this before anything else." I say. George tells me other cases of nails in the head. The patient starts speaking about his wife. It makes me think of Meredith. I hope one day we can be like this. "It's a beautiful day to save lives." I say. We have to remove the nails the same way they entered. The first one is out. And the second one. And the rest. He's good. It will take some recovery time. I change and start to head home. Still, all i can think of is Meredith. All of Meredith. I cant help but wonder if i'd still think about her this much is that first night at the bar didn't happen. Probably. She's gorgeous. She's so smart. Definitely can't deny that. She's a dream. Nobody deserves a woman with such determination to be the best at what she does. She's incredible.
