Chapter 9 - Protecting

You have been with Sesshomaru's group for about a month now. You were sitting in a small clearing that held wild flowers and Rin was showing you how to make a crown. You had become close to the child and very protective of her. You even started to call her 'My Rin' when anyone dared to touch her other then Sesshomaru and Ah-Un.

"and then you fold it again and there, a flower crown!" she said, holding it up. You smiled and finished yours, holding it up but it fell apart. You had tears.

"I'm not going to get it." You said. The was the sixth one you tried to make and they all fell apart. Rin saw the tears and stood, putting the crown on your head.

"Don't cry. you will get it." Rin said. you reached up and felt the flower crown and smiled.

"Thank you Rin." You said and hugged her. Right now, Sesshomaru and Jaken took Ah-Un to find Inuyasha. He said they were close but wanted to make sure. Your barrier was up, just in case. You felt the wind and frowned, looking before you stood. Rin looked at you.

"Jovanka?" She asked. You pushed her behind you and a demon walks out. it was a bit taller then Sesshomaru.

"flesh..." It said. you covered your nose. He reeked of blood. It took a step forward but stopped and felt your barrier. It growled.

"I will not let this stop me!" It screamed and banged it's fist against it. You know your barrier would hold up but something was wrong. It seemed like he wasn't hitting it hard enough to break it, only to make you look at him. You then heard Rin scream and turned, seeing another demon holding her, about to bite her arm.

"Human flesh." It said and Rin closed her eyes. You ran at him as fast as you could and before he could bite her, you jumped, landing on his shoulders. You put your hands on it's head and twisted. You heard a snap but you pulled hard and ripped its head off. Rin fell on the ground and looked at her as you landed. You dropped the head with a thump.

"Brother!" The other demon said and you looked at it.

"Jovanka...Your eyes..." You heard Rin say but you took a step forward and growled at the one behind the barrier.

"My Rin!" You shouted at the demon and ran, pushing the demons back with your barrier till it was smashed against a tree. He was screaming in pain and to weak too break the barrier. You saw the demon getting crushed but you didn't stopped till the demon was dead. You then moved back and pulled Rin into your lap, holding her.

"My Rin." You whispered. Rin looked at you.

"Jovanka, your eyes turned red, like Lord Sesshomaru's when he gets mad." She said. you looked down at her. You had fear in your eyes.

"I...I didn't mean to scare you." You say. Rin moved and hugged you around your neck.

"You didn't. Thank you for saving me." She said. You smiled and hugged her back.

"My Rin." You said. You could smell the blood and it soon over powered your smell. You knew it was best to leave so you stood.

"Lets get cleaned up." you said. you felt Rin nod and you walked away, dropping your barrier a bit so it was smaller, but still large in case Rin wanted to run a bit. You stopped at a river and put Rin down but you saw Red and looked you smiled and waved. It was Inuyasha. You saw him smile and wave back. He then stopped before he hit the barrier.

"Long time no see." He said and smiles. You smiled and put down the barrier. The smell of blood was still strong and hoped it didn't make him sick.

"Looks like you got into a fight." He says and walks over. You nod.

"Someone tried to hurt Rin. No one hurts my Rin." You say and pick her up. Rin waves.

"Hi Inuyasha. Where is Kagome-Chan?" Rin asks. Inuyasha smiles and you feel a bit light headed, but figured it was from the smell.

"They will be here soon." He says. You frown. The way he said that made you feel uneasy.

"Inuyasha, where is Sesshomaru?" You asked but then you heard Rin cough. You look at her and see a purple mist that was surrounding you both. You then started to cough also. You fell to your knees and felt Rin go limp in your arms. It happened so suddenly.

"I-Inu..." You started but blacked out.
