Rowan BaileyI turn the corner, that leads to the stairs; keeping an eye on everything. My pace was quick, I wasn't running but I wasn't walking. I just wanted to be outside, but I end up crashing into someone.
Just who I expected, Leo.
"Hey..." we breathe out at the same time.
I look at the cut on the lip, bruised; matching the one on his cheek. Dried up blood was on the side of his nose, the same with his lip. It looked awful, painful even. I try not to make it obvious, but I could feel my face cringing.
He nudges his head to the side, motioning to the courtyard. I look behind me; empty. I look at him and nod, before walking together.
We stayed quiet most of the time, just walking. Hearing our steps, every step, one, after another, and another. I keep an eye out, just in case of anything. He walked with his hands inside his pockets. I try to look away as he saw me staring.
He rolls his eyes, playfully, "Go on, laugh all you want..." he ends with a chuckle, nudging my shoulder with his elbow.
I cross my arms, not giving in, "I'm not laughing."
As much as I don't know what really happened at the library, I don't know whether to bring it up or not. What if he really was a vampire? I think I'm just overthinking it all, ugh. I always do that, even if I'm right half the time.
"What's that face?" Leo's eyebrows frown at me, as he interrupts my thoughts.
I look down, not realizing what face I was doing, "What face?"
"The one you were just doing."
I feel him looking at me, making me look the other way, "Oh, I was just thinking."
His voice comes closer to me, feeling his breath in my neck, "About?"
"About, what happened." I look back at him, wanting to see his reaction. He could finally tell me.
"What happened?"
Is he playing dumb with me again, like seriously? The last thing I need is for him to pretend nothing happened, nothing at all.
"You're doing it again, that face."
"The library." I pause, stopping my feet, making him stop as well to face me, "What was that? In the library." I pull my sleeves up, showing both my wrist, his nail dig marks still there, still slightly pink. "Why did you..." I felt my throat tighten, "...do that?"
He stepped closer, holding my arms, just below the shoulders. His hands rubbing up and down, like if I were cold. His face seemed hopeless; yet like there was something he hasn't told me. He cracked a smile or at least tried to.
Still no answer.
I drop my hands, knowing there no use; he'll never give in.
After a couple of minutes or two, he kept looking around, meeting my eyes, and back to looking around, "Just wait." He kept looking at the middle of the courtyard like someone was going to show up.
Yet, I was right. Someone did show up.
Snape.
Out of all people, I did not expect this one.
He pushes me back, against the wall, by my shoulders this time. "Wait here." He looks out, behind the wall. I try to do the same, "Don't move. Stay." He looks at my eyes back and forth till I nod; making him breathe out. "I'll be back."
