The time had come at last. Your final lecture came to a stop and you walked out of those doors faster than ever. The skies were pink and orange swirls that reflected onto the clouds. The breeze was cold and fast as the sun began setting more and more. It was time to go see your friends.
You walked along the sidewalk as you exited the school gates heading to the bus stop. A small sigh escaped your mouth as you wrapped your thin cardigan a bit tighter around the front and folded your arms to keep warm. You mentally cursed for not going to pick up a thicker coat but it was too late to turn back now. Yunho had sent you a text to meet at the usual barbeque place that everyone went to. Since it was closer to town, you had to take the bus for about 10 minutes to help your legs not turn into mush.
Once entering the bus, you swiped your card and went to take a seat. Luckily the bus was near empty and held only a few people who all looked worn out and stayed quiet.
Perfect.
You sat down next to a window right when the bus took off. Admiring the dark leaves falling off the trees with the wind and how your huge campus looked as the sun set against it. You rest your head against the window and continue looking out of it until a thought crosses your mind.
"Who else is going? What if Wooyoung is there? Will everything be okay?" You unconsciously bit on your finger as your stomach churned with each stop the bus made. The way that the two boys seemed to dislike each other made you worried. Especially since you feel as if you're becoming close with San.
You figured that this will be your first official dinner with the new people so you'd like to enjoy it.
Even if there was a possibility of you witnessing them fight for the first time.
There's a first for everything.
As your stop was approaching, you heavily debated to just keep going and catch a bus at another bus stop. You shook your head from the tempting thought and got up to pull the lever that signaled the bus to stop.
You quickly made your way to the front and thanked the driver on the way out.
As you exited, you winced as the cold wind hit your body. You began walking faster and faster quietly humming at the chilling breeze hitting you.
Once you got to the restaurant, you wasted no time to open the door and step in. You breathed out in relief when the warmness and scent of food flowed to you. Your eyes scanned for your mates as your eyes landed on a head of familiar blue hair.
"Hongjoong!" You called out. His head popped up and looked in your direction. The blue haired smiled whilst getting up from his seat and waved you over.
"Hi Y/N." He greeted with a small hug. "How are you?"
"Cold." You sat down and rubbed your arms. "But fine."
"Yeah why are you wearing such a light sweater hmm?" Seonghwa came out from behind a wall and questioned.
"I was in a rush to get on the bus haha." You explained to Seonghwa who had his arms folded.
"Mmmkay." Hongjoong said from beside him who had his eyes fixated on the menu. Seonghwa rolled his eyes but soon fist bumped you as a way to say hi.
"Do you know who all is coming?" You asked the two who were talking about what meats to order.
"Well Yunho is already here just in the bathroom. As for the rest of them, no clue." Seonghwa says looking up for a split second.
"Ah Y/N you made it!" A happy Yunho peeks around the wall behind the boys. He reaches over the table a little to pat your head. "You two! Don't order anything yet we have to wait for everyone to get here." Yunho scolded the two who were practically drooling over the menu. They quickly pushed the menu away and took sips of their drinks to contain their hinger.
"Y/NNNN~" Someone called and hugged you from behind.
"Heejinnn~" You responded and pat her arms which were slung around your neck. She quickly sat next to you and greeted the others.
"Scooch it Miss Y/N." someone else said from next to you. "I request the end seat."
You could feel your expression drop unintentionally as you looked at the source of the voice.
"Well, do I gotta move you myself?" Wooyoung joked and poked your arm. You gasped and encouraged Heejin to scoot to the seat next to her so you'd give Wooyoung the chair.
"Oh Sor-ry." You playfully sassed back to Wooyoung, trying to hide your nervousness. He stuck his tongue out and grabbed the menu.
"What're we getting?" He asked and put the menu in the middle of both of you. A hand then came and smacked Wooyoung's from pointing at anything.
"Not yet! We have to wait. You can order drinks for now." Yunho scolded and took the menu away and replaced it with the smaller drink menu.
"Ow! Waiting for who?" Wooyoung winced and began rubbing his hand.
"I made it!" Someone called from behind, panting a little bit. "Sorry I had to run since my class ended later than expected."
You whipped your head around to see who it was.
That's when your heart soon dropped to your stomach.
Here. We . Go.
"San! Hello!" Heejin waved from beside you. You smiled the best you could trying to show little to no worry whatsoever.
"Woooow welcome mister new student!" Hongjoong clapped which made everyone clap besides the boy sitting next to you.
"Haha, right." San rubbed his arm, still trying to catch his breath. "Hey Heejin, Y/N."
San took a seat and peaked around Heejin to wave at you. You leaned back a little to wave but could feel a strong tension between them. You peaked out of the corner of your eye to see Wooyoung giving the other male a glare while San subtly returned it.
Heejin must have felt it too. She nudged your arm and gave you 'the look' that signaled something was up. Like the tension was piercing through both of you.
Actually, the whole group probably felt it with the way Yunho awkwardly took a drink out of his glass while Seonghwa and Hongjoong started analyzing the pictures on the walls randomly.
"Am I late?" Someone sang out from the end of the table. Your eyes brightened up when you seen who it was.
"Jongho!" You beamed and got up to go hug him.
"Hi noona." The younger person embraced you tightly.
"Why are you the most excited to see him? My hug wasn't that tight." Hongjong pouted and folded his arms.
"Because Jongho is younger than me and I trust him the most." You put a fist on your hip and told the pouty blueberry.
"It's probably because he calls you 'noona'. Tch maybe if I were called 'oppa' more-" Seonghwa mumbled which earned a slap from Hongjoong on his neck.
Jongho giggled and sat across from you next to Seonghwa.
You could still feel the harsh tension between San and Wooyoung but tried to ignore it by talking with Jongho. Heejin quickly sighed and looked at her phone.
"Oh I have to go, the director of the ballet unit needs us." She quickly got up and swung her bag around her shoulder. "Have a nice dinner. Jongho…" Heejin gave a quick glance to the two boys on her side. "Take care of Y/N for me."
He nodded and picked up the drink menu, easily dismissing her request. Heejin gave you a quick rub on the shoulder and mouthed 'see you later' then went on her way out.
"Well there goes her. Now let's wait a little longer I suppose-" Yunho exhaled and soon got cut off by Wooyoung.
"I forgot to tell you, Yeosang probably won't come. He was knocked out cold when I was leaving and I wasn't about to wake him up and wait for him to get ready." He stated looking over at Yunho.
"Mhm same with Mingi hyung." Jongho said turning on his phone "I sent him a text when i left but still have no response, he's probably still asleep."
"Then i guess everyone is here.." Yunho sighed and scratched the back of his head. Hongjoong and Seonghwa cheered as they sntached up the food menu once again.
"It's okay Yun, we'll still have fun here." You tried to lighten the mood which made Yunho nod in agreement.
"Y/N can I see that drink menu?" San asked from the side but this time in Heejin's old seat. You nodded and gave him the menu Wooyoung had previously.
"Hey why'd you have to move closer to her? Plus I was still looking at that." Wooyoung complained from your left while pushing his hair out of his face.
"Well we're friends, there's no reason to leave an open seat next to her when we're comfortable around each other." San chimed in still looking at the menu showing little to no interest. You could feel eyes drilling into the back of your head from the long haired boy.
"Woo it's not like you haven't been here less than 20 times. This is San's first time here and he doesn't know what's on the menu." You defended to distract Wooyoung from saying something else. "Besides you're probably gonna order the same soda as always I know it. San I really recommend-." You tried to soothe the annoyed Wooyoung to your left and aid a confused San on your right.
The boy on your left let out a small 'tch' and continued rubbing his hand from the smack he received earlier. The waiter soon came to pick up the food and drink orders from the four of you who had arrived later.
"So San how was your first day of classes?" Hongjoong asked and shifted his body towards him. San took off his coat and placed it on the back of his chair while letting out a long deep exhale.
"Not really what I expected but fun." He responded with a thin smile. "Better yet how is Jongho's first year?"
The two toned haired boy widened his eyes and looked anywhere but the people at the table. "I hope the waiter comes back with my drink soon, it's quite hot here huh?" Jongho attempted to change the topic which made everyone laugh in return.
"I think Yunho really broke my hand, it's so red. Could you look at it really quick?" Wooyoung whined shoving his hand in your face. You pushed it away and analyzed it a little.
"It's not broken, silly." You grabbed his hand and stroked the red part. The waiter came with drinks right on time. You place your drink down and press the back of his hand against the cold glass. "Feel better?"
Wooyoung quickly whipped his head from looking behind your back to you and smiled. "Much thank you." He beamed innocently and took a sip of his own drink. You raised an eyebrow in confusion and looked to San who was looking down at his phone with his tongue poking at his bottom lip.
Soon enough, the waiter brought your main dishes. Yunho and Jongho lit the grill and began cooking the meat. Seonghwa handed out the plates and sides. You all began talking to one another about your days and about the winter festival.
“I got stuck behind the scenes with sound tech.” Hongjoong grimaced while flipping the meat.
“I’m going to be in the intro performance.” Yunho boasted. “The outfits look super cool on paper.” He struck a pose as if he were wearing it.
“I’m not even performing." Seonghwa said bluntly while taking a small sip of his soup.
"Hey isn't Mr. Jung involved in the performances too? And San don't you have his class?" Yunho asked you and San which made you unconsciously choke mid drink. You got shocked at the sudden question, not wanting another conflict between the boys.
Until they both pat on your back.
You could feel the instant stares they were giving each other even from behind.
"No clue he barely talked about it. Anyway the meat looks good! Let's all start hm?" You quickly changed up and nudged the two boys on their ribs to fix their positions.
"Right, Thank you for the food!" Seonghwa started which made everyone around him repeat his words.
"Here I'll get you a piece." San offered and got up slightly to reach the grill. He picked up two pieces of beef and placed them on your plate. "Let me know when you want more." He smiled and got a piece for himself.
Suddenly, a pair of chopsticks came and took a slab from you.
"Thank youuu~" Wooyoung said sarcastically, shoving them in his mouth. "I'm more than capable of helping her." He said with a full mouth and got more from the grill to give to you.
"Y'know that's pretty rude of you.. " San said which made Wooyoung clench his fist.
"Uh, Yunho I think you should put the other meat on the grill." Jongho said and scratched his head. You looked down to see your plate mostly responsible for all the meat theft that wasn't even done by you.
"Here take some of mine!" You offered and quickly placed some food on his plate. He gave a gummy smile and thanked you.
"Thanks noona! I have to use the bathroom though so I'll be right back." He excused himself and got up.
"Don't give away your food next time I worked hard to get that." Wooyoung scolded from the side of you picking up his rice bowl.
"You shouldn't be telling her what to do, Wooyoung." San side eyed the younger boy who was about to stuff rice in his mouth.
"Oh really? Then how about-" Wooyoung started, slamming his bowl on the table. You got startled by his sudden actions. It was the first time you ever seen Wooyoung be like this. You had hoped that San would be more sensible and not respond but he soon joined in.
The two began bickering for god knows what as you just sat there, in the middle.
You tried to catch the boy's attention on the other side but they had looked so used to it and unbothered by it that they continued doing their own thing. You sigh and try to take a bite of your meat but fail at doing so from them pushing you around slightly causing you to drop whatever you held.
"I think Jongho was right.. It is hot in here um I'm going to step outside." You mentioned and began scooting your chair backwards.
"Let me go with you." The two boys said in unison and grabbed your shoulders. They immediately looked up at each other and started at it again but this time arguing about who should take you.
"No nevermind it's fine!" You said with every last bit of patience you had left. You soon just reached for your drink while the two still fought.
Letting out a huge sigh, you take down the drink in one go. The ice cold liquid soon brought you a little clarity as it refreshed you from the tension. The coldness trickled down your throat as you hissed at the bubbles.
Soon your head became lighter and you felt better than ever. The arguing became more quieter to your ears as you happily ate. Everytime you looked away your glass seemed to fill more and more until the very last thing you remember was a burning sensation down your throat.
Soon, everything went dark.Fix your posture and drink water!
Until next time ( ˘ ³˘)♥︎
