Author’s POV:
The two infuriated boys kept at each other's necks while you rested your head on your arm that was up on the table. Everyone else was too busy eating and ignoring the two boys fighting. Soon things took a turn when Seonghwa let out a deep sigh and glared at them.
"Could you two stop fighting like children when we are in public." He pointed at the two who immediately looked over at him. "You left poor Y/N in the middle."
Wooyoung and San switched their gaze to your presumably asleep figure. With wide eyes, San pokes your back to which you have no response to.
"Did she fall asleep? Does this usually happen?" San asked looking back and forth from you to the group.
"Not at all. It's so rare to even see her sleep nowadays." Hongjoong mentioned shaking your arm a little bit.
"She barely ate anything so I doubt it's food related." Wooyoung added and slowly pushed San's finger away from you.
The table instantly went to discussing your possible reason for being so comfortable. They started panicking just a little while thinking the worst.
"Hey did anyone drink tonight? There's like three empty bottles lying around here." Yunho asked suddenly, picking up the bottles from below him. Everyone looked around the table and slowly shook their heads. Soon, eyes landed on Jongho with his lips pursed. He shook his head and laughed awkwardly. The flustered boy looked anywhere but their gazes.
"Hey that's my cup.." Jongho's vision landed on the glass you were gripping onto. San took the glass out of your hand and put it up to his nose.
"I think I found the culprit…" He poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue while shaking the glass.
Every head slowly turned towards Jongho.
"Okay it was me!" He confessed and put his hands up. "But how did she even have it?"
Everyone at the table groaned at the guilty boy.
"I thought it was hers and kept giving it back to her whenever it got filled up again." Wooyoung pressed his fingers on the bridge of his nose.
"You had her real glass all along. Don't you remember your little hurt hand scene." San placed down the cup and pointed to the now watered down real soda.
"Oh so now it's my fault right?" Wooyoung threw his hands on his legs in frustration and started again.
"No better yet why were you ordering alcohol Jongho?!" Seonghwa questioned angrily. "At least be responsible for it and not hide it." His tone grew angrier.
"You were the only one she trusted! She even said it herself!" Hongjoong threw his hands up in the air as he scolded Jongho.
"I'm just stressed with school and wanted to try it. Everytime I filled it up it disappeared!" He defended himself.
"The bill is going to be through the roof oh my go-." Yunho trailed off as he started calculating the numbers on his phone calculator. The entire table filled with chaos until a quiet and groggy voice spoke.
"Too loud.." You lifted your head slightly and rubbed your eyes.
"Noona! Are you okay? How do you feel?" Jongho asked, guilt coating his words. He reached over and clasped your hands that were stretched out.
"Thirsty. Can I have… more of my soda?" You managed to slur out, barely keeping your eyes open. The boys at the other side face palmed themselves and sighed loudly.
"Alright that's it. Why do you think you're so much better than me?" Wooyoung stood up from his seat and pointed at San.
"I never implied that. You're being so dramatic." San replied standing up after.
The boys on the other side looked so fed up with everything going on. Yunho was ready to get up and try to break up the boys until your voice spoke up.
"Would you stop arguing already?" You spoke louder and brought your back straight up. San and Wooyoung immediately looked over to you and sat down.
"Y/N are you alright?" San asked while scooting his chair over and trying to get a better look at your drowsy face.
"Are you even there? What's my name Y/N?" Wooyoung asked while patting his chest. You frowned and looked over to him.
"Stop changing the subject!" You demanded in a soft yet whiny tone. "You've been going at it all night and I've been the only one who had to put up with it all by myself and I don't even know the reason you guys are mad with one another and ugh I'm so frustratedddd." You tugged your hair and ranted.
The boys gave a sharp look to each other but soon dropped it and sighed.
Wooyoung was quick to apologize first "Y/N I'm sorry.."
"I'm sorry too. We didn't mean to involve you." San joined in after.
You dropped your head on the table making a small thud. "Thank you." You mumbled trying to not cry from the sudden wave of emotions.
"Let's clean up a little and start going home." Yunho said, letting out a breath. "Someone take Y/N home first. She looks like she's about to get sick."
"I’ll take her.” Both boys stood up and reached for your arms.
San grabbed your arm first and gave the other a bitter smile. "No thanks, I got it." He replied and picked up your arm a little attempting to get you up.
"Oh please how could I trust you?" Wooyoung retorted and pulled you towards him.
"Okay that's enough." Hongjoong finally snapped. "You've been barking at each other the whole night but I refuse to let Y/N go through anymore of that stress. You both take her and take turns carrying her. Try to solve things on your way back while you're at it like adults. Understand?” He planted his palms on the table and looked over to the now shocked boys.
“Nooo I can go home by myself, don't worry about me.” You insisted and tried to get up just to get sat back down by the two holding your arms.
Even after drinking she’s so considerate.” San thought and looked at you who was trying to get out of their grips sluggishly. He unconsciously smiled a little which made Wooyoung sigh deeply.
“Nope don’t even try it. I’ll go first, San.” Wooyoung stood up and put on his jacket. "Take her bag okay? See you guys later." He picked you up to your feet and swung your arm around his shoulder to assist you with walking.
"Wait up-." San tried calling out to the figure who was headed to the door. "I'm sorry for the trouble guys. This should cover me and Y/N." San pulled out his wallet and took some cash out for Yunho.
"See you soon." He smiled gently and grabbed your bag and his coat and ran off to catch up.
He jogged up to Wooyoung's hunched figure that was moving at a fast pace to which your little drowsy body was barely able to keep up with.
"Trying to get away from me fast right?" San questioned letting out a chuckle. Wooyoung heaved out another sigh and slowed his pace.
A puff of smoke came out of his mouth when he exhaled "I don't want to fight with you right now."
San surrendered his hands and tilted his head as he remained silent. His gaze drifted to you. Your steps were slow and wobbly and your eyes were squinted from all the bright lights. He could see you trying to get away from Wooyoung from time to time which made him snort silently.
The rest of the way to the bus stop was silent and even getting onto the bus was quiet. Wooyoung took your arm off of his shoulders and drug you into the bus. The boys got some stares due to the fact two men were boarding with a seemingly intoxicated girl. But they easily discarded when they had seen San crack a small warm hearted smile.
"Okay okay sit here." Wooyoung directed you to sit in the middle seat. He sat by the window and left San to sit at the end.
You instantly let your head fall forward to the seat in front of you. "I could've gone by myself.." You trailed off a little as your eyelids dropped a little.
San placed his hand on your head and pet it gently as the bus began to drive off.
"Don't pet her like she's a dog." Wooyoung snarled quietly and sat back in his seat.
San took his hand back and sighed deeply. "Why do you hate me so much?"
His quiet words made the clearly annoyed Wooyoung scoff.
"What makes you ask that?"
San furrowed his brows and stared at the other boy. Wooyoung caught a glimpse of him and sighed.
"Oh don't even act like the victim you little-" He trailed off when he saw your body shift a little bit. He exhaled and continued. "You know what happened."
San ran his hand through his hair when he saw the younger turn his attention toward the window knowing he'd get no answer from him anytime soon. He sat back and took a notice in your shaky hands from the cold. You were also shivering a little in your seat. As much as he wanted to, he held himself back from trying to help you to avoid any more conflict with Wooyoung.
A long bus ride in silence later, San got up first and pulled you out of the chair. You opened your eyes a little and smiled at him.
"Hi San..." You dragged on his name while clasping him in a small hug. He laughed lightly and turned you around so you could walk, rather wobble, your way out of the bus.
"I can take her from here. I know you'd probably prefer to be farther from me." San offered once Wooyoung got off the bus last.
"How do you even know- okay then fine do whatever you want." He bluntly said and threw his hands up. "Y/N call me if he tries anything funny." The long haired boy tried to look into your eyes which were drooping a little but you still managed to nod and grin.
"Go go Wooyoung. Your throat must hurt from yelling all night." You giggled out and waved.
He sighed and gave one last look to San before turning around and walking in the other direction.
"Put this on Y/N.." San swiftly put his coat over your shoulders and helped your arms through the sleeves. He laughed at how big it looked on your sleepy figure. "I’ll give you a piggyback ride.”
You shook your head. "I can walk thank you very much." Your legs made the first couple of steps but were then suddenly stopped by someone kneeling down in front of you.
“Just get on it’ll be easier for the both of us.”
You gave in and bent down to swing your arms around his neck. He quickly put his arms around and under your legs and stood up.
"Comfortable?" San asked bouncing a couple of times to fix you on his back. He smiled when you nodded into his back and started walking.
"Why are you guys mad at one another…?" You managed to softly speak.
"We don't get along well anymore." San simply put while looking at the directory.
"Same thing that Woo said." You sighed out and put your chin onto his shoulder as he began making his way towards the pathway to your dorm.
San shook his head and chuckled. He peaked over to you on his shoulder and admired the way your eyes still sparkled with kindness and joy even in this state.
"Y/N I'm really sorry for today.. If we would've just kept quiet we could had been more attentive to you and prevented this. Not to mention we would've been less annoying to you.." San apologized which made you tilt your head to him.
"No no it's okay." You smiled and let your eyelids drop.
Suddenly, there was a slight pressure on your head.
San rested his head on yours which made you giggle.
"Your head is heavy." You joked with him which made him chuckle and lift his head up. "You're a really amazing person."
The chilling wind blew which made your faces sting. Little did you know that San's face was turning red for completely different reasons.
"Oh my gosh! What happened to her?" A concerned voice came from in front of you both. "San you're as red as a tomato! Is she heavy?"
"She unintentionally had a bit much to drink- and no it's just, cold." San explained while you pressed your forehead into his neck making his ears darker than before.
"Nooo don't tell Heejin she'll get upset.." You pleaded quietly which made Heejin click her tongue.
"How'd you know we were coming back?" San asked Heejin who was squishing your cheeks.
"Wooyoung sent me a text." She turned to San. "I'm surprised he didn't bring her back."
The frustrated male pursed his lips and looked down. "It's cold, let's go put her in bed."
