"Hey," Taehyung made himself seen to the group of eight people with Jungkook.
The young boy looked up to smile and bowed his head with a small "hi, Hyung."
"Would you mind if I borrow Jungkook for a moment?" Taehyung charmed the strangers with his bright smile.
Mrs. Sago was the first to make way for Jungkook, a happy glint in her eyes as the 20-year-old squeezed his way out from the cramped sofa seats. Taehyung hugged his shoulder, at which the latter squirmed, but he still allowed the man to walk him outside.
The big, red, leather gate closed behind them and the sound of music faded to a great extent. Jungkook was jumpy, looking around.
"Don't worry. He went home," Taehyung smiled. Jungkook breathed at the words and his head shook a little, his mouth opening to say something, but he closed it, not wanting to admit that he was nervous. Taehyung held his shoulders and stared at his face. "Relax, Jungkook. I am not going to harm you."
It caused the younger to laugh nervously. "I know that."
Taehyung sighed as he pulled his hands back and tucked them in his pockets. "I am not going to beat around the bush, Jungkook. You have a party to attend and my date is waiting too," Jungkook appreciated that. Not for any other reason but solely because his nerves were almost dissolving him. "I know what Jimin did and there is nothing in this world that can justify his action. But, if you see a crime for a crime, you'll hate the criminal. If you get to know the criminal, you'll pity him or empathize with him. I am not asking you to justify Jimin, that's not fair to you. But I'll justify Jimin because no one knows him more than me."
The sentence caused Jungkook's chest to heat up with jealousy. Even with their differences, he suddenly didn't like the fondness with which Taehyung talked about Jimin. He kept his mouth shut nonetheless.
"We grew up together. We studied together, got jobs together, and got promoted together. Hell, we even lost our virginities together. Wait, that didn't come out like how I wanted... No, I mean...we didn't have a threesome or something if you are thinking it. I mean... Shit. The thing is... I have known Jimin and I can proudly say that he is the kindest and most helpful person I've ever known."
Jungkook poked his cheek with his tongue, his soft eyes now turning hard.
"He went batshit crazy when you moved in into the building. He turned into a creep when he was never one. I have seen his thirst and also his pure love for you," Jungkook's breath got caught in his lungs. "When he told me he was in love with you, I laughed at him and challenged him."
"I can't tell you that I love you and not tell you what I have done."
"I've seen him respect you and your boundaries, feel your pain. He wanted you so much that that fucker's head went for a toss."
Jungkook stifled a little smile.
"But I am telling you. He is still in a constant self-loathing state after you left. I don't know what exactly went down that night, but you two need to sort it out."
Jungkook was looking at Taehyung, but his head was filled with his own thoughts now. Of course, he was aware of — as opposed to what Taehyung said about knowing Jimin better than anyone — why he couldn't entirely hate the man even after he tried his best.
Jimin was nothing but a strong wall of support for him. He didn't say it but felt like dying every minute of the days back then. Jimin was always there without asking, extending his assistance unconditionally. Could he forgive Jimin for something he wanted to do, but ended up not doing?
