Clarice's POV

Once Blink and I were officially in Hattan we immediately went to the Square. "So Clar, I see my other half came back in one piece." Race walked up to me.

"Well, of course, besides I don't put up with their crap, anyways, how was Midtown." I asked hoping it went well for him too.

"Awe you know at first they thought I was kidding until I told them that the other Boroughs were wanting to join in." He laughed, taking a puff from his trademark cigar.

While Race began one of his games of poker with Les and Skittery, I decided that I was gonna help some of the other boys with their signs and posters.

"Can I help?" I asked as I approached Swifty. "Sure Clar." He grinned, handing me a small bucket of paint. I smiled and sat down on the cement and outlined a few of the words with a pencil before painting onto the poster board

"This looks like shit, I'm sorry I suck at this Swifty." I doubted my instincts, plus I was never good at painting or drawing, but I'm good at knitting and sewing. Momma taught me before she and Dad died, from there I taught myself how to knit. It's real easy once you get the hang of it.

"No, no, I think it's good." Swifty said otherwise.

I nodded my head.

Sometime, maybe an hour or so, I decided that I was going to watch Race play poker with the other boys, and I knew he was already gonna win.

"Double down boys!" He exclaimed. Yup he won. I laughed as I looked at Blink, who began rolling his eyes jokingly. I was about to say something clever until we saw Jack, Davey and Boots walking up to us. All of us crowded around him.

"Hey, how ya doing, Jack?" Race asked as we all walked. "So, where's Spot?" Race asked Jack. What kind of question is that? Spot rarely steps foot in Hattan, besides Race sees him practically everyday.

"Uh, he was concerned about us being serious, can you imagine that." Jack told Race.

"Well you know Jack, maybe we ought to ease off a little, you know?" Race said, taking a drag of his cigarette and wrapped an arm around me.

"Without Spot and the others, there's not enough of us Jack, you know." Blink chimed in. We all nodded in agreement.

"Maybe we're moving too soon, maybe we're not ready." Mush reasoned.

Jack nodded his head, I don't think he really understood, he's a real idiot sometimes. I'm not saying he's dumb just an idiot and doesn't think of anything but himself and his stupid Santa Fe dreams.

"I definitely think we should forget about it for a little while." Skittery put his head down while he talked.

"Oh, do you?" Jack argued.

"Yeah, I mean we're not Brooklyn." Race said with reason. Jack seemed to get annoyed from that comment. "Hey who are we kidding here, Spot was right, is it just a game for you guys?" He asked, he seems more annoyed this time around, trust me, you don't want to be around Jack when he's annoyed or worse angry, because it gets very ugly real quick!

All of us began protesting against what he said, I mean I know he can be an idiot sometimes but I'm convinced that he doesn't even know what he's talking about. Just a personal opinion on my end, I'm not sure what the others think, but then gin, it's none of my business to ask. We all stood there for a minute until David began singing, not another song.....
