"What is this place?" he asked scared.

"Let me show you," I said holding out my hand.

He looked at my hand and then back at me. I smiled a bit trying to get him to trust me and it worked. His hand slipped into mine carefully, and I helped him out of the pit. He stood slightly towering over me and sighed.

"There. Now come on," I said beckoning him.

I started walking and showed him around the Glade. Everyone around us was working and talking amongst themselves happily.

"This is the Glade," I introduced as we walked, "We eat here. We sleep here. We grow our own food. We build our own shelter. Whatever we need, that cage, or box, provides for us. The rest is really up to us," I finished turning to him.

He looked around curiously and observed everything. He then looked back to the box.

"The Box?" he asked.

"Yeah. It's sent up here once a month with fresh supplies and a new greenie. This month that's you," I looked at him.

He looked down at me and seemed to remember every feature on my face. He scanned it, and spoke.

"Sent up? By who, though? Who put us here?"

"That, we don't know," I said a little darkly.

We stood there for a few seconds, until I heard Newt come up in front of me.

"Hey, are you all right, Y/n?" he asked cheerfully.

"I'm doing better," I chuckled.

He put his elbow on my shoulder and leaned on me looking at the new boy with a smile.

"Newt, this is greenie," I said.

Newt pulled out his hand and the boy shook it firmly.

"When Alby isn't around, I'm in charge. And when I'm not around, Newt's in charge," I chuckled as the boys pulled their hands away.

"That was some dash you made earlier," Newt commented, "For a second, I thought you had the chops to be a runner, 'till you face-planted," Newt laughed.

I smiled and giggled myself along with Newt, but greenie spoke up.

"Wait, a "runner"?" he asked.

I sighed and turned to Newt who's elbow was still resting on my shoulder.

"Newt, do me a favor and go find Chuck," I said.

"All right," he smirked.

He leaned off my shoulder and walked past us to find Chuck who was the youngest in the Glade. He was only a boy who had come recently. Sweetest boy you'll ever meet.

"Sorry to cut this a little short," I said turning away and walking with the greenie behind me, "You came up a bit late, and there's a lot to do. We got something special planned tonight," I smiled.

He nodded as we walked. He turned behind us to see a large pile of sticks and a deer's skull on top.

"You'll see," I said holding his shoulder and pushing him forward a little. We kept on walking until we got to the guard tower that Alby and I had built. I began climbing up to the top and greenie just stood there watching me. I stopped and turned to him as I was on the ladder.

"Hope you're not afraid of heights," I chuckled, "Come on,"

I continued climbing and he followed soon enough. I reached the top and helped the greenie climb a bit. I walked over to the wooden rail and leaned on it observing the Glade from above. He came up next to me slowly and put his hands on it.
