Tw: 9/11, death

This was inspired by a musical song named 'I'll be here' it's a poem about the song with parts of the song in it

I met you when I bumped into you on the sidewalk
Your arms full with bags of groceries
I saved a banana, down by the curb
You smiled at me with full on delight
When we finished picking up his things
He asked, "hey, what are you doing this Friday? Because I'll be here."
I nodded my head and gave him my number, my heart already set on knowing this man
Friday came and we hit it off, his jokes were funny and his eyes cheerful
Months go by, it's all quite a blur
When he got down on one knee, my heart burst, "hey, what are you doing for the rest of your life?
Because I'll be here
You are the one, I promise you, James."
We got married at this old church, the stained glass windows still in my mind now
Then on that dreaded day, the day I lost him, I heard someone say it
I thought it was some joke
But I turned around and saw the flames burning the building
I rushed home, he had to drop by the office
He wasn't there, my heart stopped
Then I listened to the voice-mail he left
The last words he said
"I'm sorry, my dear, you won't like what I'm going to say
I might not make it home
You don't have to cry
Because I'll be here with you
Even if you throw away my favorite sweater
Just know that it's okay to move on
Soon you will have the courage to say yes
Yes to the man that you love
Take off my ring when you're ready, dear"
Yes
Jason, I will marry you
I'm ready to put on your ring
All I ask is for to say
"I'll be here"
