GOOSEBUMPS
CHAPTER FOUR
part one.

"HEY, HEY, HEY, watch it, that's my throwing shoulder", Caleb scolded as Becca reached over him. The pair was on the girl's bed, because Caleb had taken Becca's phone. She kept checking it for a text from Nolan, as they hadn't spoken since the fight at school. Roughly three days, to be exact. It was their longest time without speaking since knowing each other. However, Becca's constant checking for a text message was interrupting tutoring time.

And call him selfish, but some part of Caleb liked it better when all of Becca's attention was on him. He didn't even know why. But don't tell anyone that. He had an image to uphold. And it wouldn't be fair to drag Becca along with him until he knew for sure what he wanted in life.

There was a slight squeak as Becca fell forward, mostly because of Caleb's playful teasing. Because for one, hello abs, but for two, hello lack of personal space. "Hi, button", he grinned.

"Hey, Bex I- oh." Seriously? Again? How many times was he gonna be denied something as simple as a kiss? (15 more times, Caleb. 15 more times.)

Becca's cheeks heated as she turned her head to look at her friend. "Nolan?" Hey, bestie, just wanted to let you know that you have the worst, and most awkward, timing ever.

"What is he doing here?", Nolan frowned. He was planning on apologizing to Caleb eventually, sure, but not right now. It's the frail male ego at work right now, okay? I'm kidding, I'm kidding... Or am I? Yeah, no, most definitely kidding. Nolan just didn't want to apologize to Caleb until he knew he could say it and mean it. What was the point of an empty apology? It was just a waste of time that solved nothing in the long run.

But for now, the long run included finding out why the hell Becca was straddling Caleb in the first place.

Oh God, this looks compromising, doesn't it? "We're just studying, I promise!", Becca defended, finally pushing herself off Caleb.

Nolan raised both his brows as he glanced between the two. "Really? Because that certainly does not look like studying. That looks like the beginning of an X-Rated movie." Sure, Nolan, if that X-Rated movie was a horror flic.

"Yeah, we're totally lying to you", Caleb said, and the way he said it made it impossible to tell if he was lying or not until Becca leaned over and smacked him.

"Caleb has my phone, that's it", Becca huffed. "Which, by the way, give it back, loser!"

"No."

"I hate you", Becca grumbled, turning her attention back to Nolan. "What's up?"

"I wanted to talk to you. Alone. Which means you", Nolan snapped his fingers, pointing to the bedroom door. "Out."

"Sure thing, little man", Caleb shrugged, forcing himself out of the bed. And yes, for anyone wondering, he did in fact take Becca's phone with him. "Hey, Mr. S, can we finish talking about your Sasquatch theories?"
