This Wasn't Expected

The whole day, Samantha was continuously thinking about the guy in her dreams. Amy was worried. She was rather surprised of Samantha's crazy behavior. According to Amy, Samantha should've been a bit more cheerful and curious about whatever her best friend had did the whole summer, especially after their long summer vacation.

Amy said, interrupting her thought, "I spent the whole summer in Hawaii. Saw a lot of new things, roamed the beaches and also drove my dad's truck. It was so exciting!"

"hmm. That might have been amazing."

"Yeah. What about you? What did you do the whole summers?"

"Um. Nothing much. I visited my grandma and nothing else."

"Hey, I'm noticing something wrong with you since morning. Tell me what happened?"

"It's nothing. I just had this dream of a boy whom I met and crashed with in the school corridor and he complimented about my shirt that I'm wearing today. All of this gives me a vibe of him meeting me today at the corridors and I bump into him. But as soon as we entered the school premises, I found there was no one like him. That just made me a bit depressed. I was so obsessed with meeting that guy."

"First of all, tell me one thing. You had an introduction, right? So he might have told you his name. Remember his name and we'll check out for him in school. Try it. Don't lose hope so fast."

"Yeah sure, we'll skip the next lecture and go on a search mission. We'll find him today."

The lecture ends as both the girls run out of their classes in search of the dream-boy called Joseph Philip. They run through every classroom, searching for that one guy. But, he was nowhere to be found. Depressed, both the girls reach the canteen. They keep thinking about the places that they might have missed.

"Did you check the library? Or the laboratory?" asked Samantha.

"Well I don't remember you telling me that he is a reader or a, um, science freak!" Amy exclaimed.

Saying so, both the girls take a sip from their coffee. Is this guy real? Why is Sam so attracted to him? Does Sam know him? What does he have to do with her? Is it all just a bloody coincidence? All of these things that happened today; were they just coincidences or are they clues to find the path that meets him?

Thinking hard, both of them start walking through the corridors. Amy sees a friend of her and she stops to greet her. Meanwhile Sam just keeps walking straight, thinking about that one question, regardless of where she was going.

And -THUD-

Down goes Samantha. She bumped into a wall with her books floating in mid air and coffee spilt all over her body. The fall helped her realize what she actually was doing, in the real world. Her clothes were all filthy, with dark coffee fallen all over.

"Here, let me help you." A strange voice reached her ears from behind. This wasn't Amanda. It was somebody else.

"You should've payed attention on the path you're walking on."

Sam turned back. Stood there a guy, more likely a high school kid with a nerd-like look. He wore big round spectacles, just like a studious kid who spends his time in the library and games. He was a very skinny guy. His wrist were much smaller than Sam. He helped her to pick up her books. He wore a cologne that was nearly outdated. He seemed very less confident while speaking. 'Perfect Nerd Material'.

"Thank you", said Sam, "I'll take care next time"

"Hey Samantha," shouted Amy, "You alright?"

"Yeah I'm good!" Sam replied.

"Oh Sam, that's you're name then. Nice to meet you."

"Yeah."

"By the way, hey! Nice shirt you got there."

Sam looked at herself again. Their was no spot on her shirt where there wasn't any coffee fallen.

"Seriously?" Sam asked disgustingly.

"Oh, no! That's not what I meant! Hey wait! I'm sorry for that. I meant something else!"

"Yeah yeah forget it", Sam said as she turned around and went back her way.

"Hey", said Amy, "My name is Amanda by the way. Don't feel bad about what she said. She's just not in a good mood to talk."

"Um, Amanda! Nice to meet you. My name is Joseph Lawrence. Friends call me Joe."

Sam wasn't that far. She heard him say his name. She turned back really fast and started running towards him. She was terrified and annoyed. Was this the guy she saw in her dreams? No! he was much more taller, darker and 10 times more handsome than this kid. He wasn't skinny. Only thing that matched between the dream boy and Joe was their eyes. Both had the same dark color.

"No! You can't be Joseph Lawrence. How is that even possible?"

"Whoa Sam what's wrong?" asked Joe.

Sam looked him straight in the eye and Joe blinked them really quick. He looked so nervous and less confident while speaking. On the other hand, Joseph from her dreams was a confident and tall guy, who stared at Samantha for a much longer time. The way he talked was so soft. He had a more masculine but soft voice. But this Joe in the real world is exactly the opposite.

"Okay Samantha, don't be mad at me. I did not make fun of you when I talked about your shirt. I just wanted to start a conversation."

"Yeah Joe it's alright."

"Well Sam, I was thinking that, maybe we can, um, hangout for a while. I mean, um, you and me and Amanda? I mean its not compulsory but I just thought we could just go outside in the amusement park and then go to dinner or something."

"um, sorry Joe, I, actually I'm not in a mood to go out with somebody and I think we also have a lot of study work to do. I won't make it."

"Oh, okay Sam. It's alright. Maybe some other day!"

Saying so, Sam and Amanda moved away together, leaving Joe depressed, for it was for the first time he had ever tried talking to a girl.
