Only Imagination

I walk through green meadows, dense fog envelops me and yet I see the rocky landscape of the Scottish Highlands before me. Mountain after mountain lines up. Grief fills me as I look at the wide landscape.

That was what he had wished for.

To travel here once, to admire the nature, to look at the rough cliffs. An unfulfilled Dream. Silently tears run down my cold cheeks. Slowly I continue along the narrow path, passing wide meadows, along steep slopes until I see a big rocky outcrop. This was what he had always dreamed of. Standing on such a cliff, looking at the world from above, feeling the cold wind in his hair.

I look down on my dull dress, watch how the grass bends in the wind, dancing a slow dance. Drops linger on the thin stalks, trying to hold on to them and finally fall. When I look up again, I see a person, the outlines blurred by the fog, and yet so familiar.

It cannot be.

It cannot be him. I blink, my eyes trying to capture the situation in front of me. But then I recognize him. It's him standing off a big cliff right in front of me, his arms wide open, reaching for the sky.

Just like he had always dreamed.

In wide pants, with his tousled hair blown away by the wind, in his worn-out denim jacket. As if by magic my legs start to move, and I run towards him faster and faster. Shortly before I reach him, he turns around and says "Amy" I hear him say. Through a veil of tears, I see his familiar features in front of me. The bright green eyes surrounded by laugh lines, the thick black hair, his dimples. Slowly he comes a step closer and raises his hand. Gently he strokes a tear from my cheek.

"Why did you have to leave? Why did this have to happen. Why you?" I almost scream. A wave of tears rolls over me and I begin to shake.  For a moment I remain silent. Memories chase through my head. Trembling, I wrap my arms around him, breathing in the smell of his perfume. "It'll be alright! " I hear him say softly. Slowly I release myself from the embrace and look into his eyes." I hope that you know that I'll love you !" "For Eternity" he answers and smiles lightly.

And with a last look into my eyes he slowly fades away again.
