As I walked around the corner to the neighborhood I live in I felt uneasy.
It's just my brain playing tricks on me.
I tried to calm myself down and pretend nothing was wrong until someone grabbed onto my arm, I flinched and looked up to see a man who was clearly drunk.
"Get off me!" I exclaim.
"Come, on Let's have some fun. You're out here for a reason aren't you princess?" The man sang.
The smell of alcohol lingered all over him. I ignored everything he said and tried to yank my arm out of his grasp. I'm assuming that angered him because he harshly slapped me. I stepped backwards as an impact from the slap, The man threw himself at me and tried to pull my shirt off my shoulders. I tried to scream but he held his filthy hand over my mouth.
I was at the edge of crying until I heard a sound of a growling dog. My other arm was suddenly yanked away from the drunk asshole. I looked to see Hyunjin. Before I could fully process what happened, Hyunjin pushed the guy on the ground and started to continuously punch him. A dog jumped into my arms without warning and started to lick my hand in a way of comforting me.
I finally came to my senses and got up, taking the dog out of my lap and grabbing Hyunjin's arm, pulling him back.
"Hyunjin, he's not worth it. Let's just leave." I said desperately, feeling a sudden urge to cry.
Hyunjin pulled back from the man and grabbed my hand in his. He reached for his phone and called someone. We stood there for 5 minutes, watching the drunk man groan in pain on the ground.
Serves you right, pervert.
I heard the sirens of a police car and saw one coming.
He called the cops?
We watched as the police took the pervert away in the cop car.
I looked down to see Hyunjin still gripping on my hand tightly. I blushed as I felt a finger lift my head up, a movement which wasn't very new to me anymore.
"I told you, I should've walked you home Y/N." Hyunjin lectured.
I nodded sadly and looked down. I noticed his bruised knuckles and saw how they were covered in crimson red blood. Knowing his knuckles were like that because he protected me was enough to make me let out the tears I had been holding in.
I brought my head back up to meet Hyunjin already looking at me.
"I-I'm sorry I caused so much trouble tonight." I said through sobs.
I noticed Hyunjin's eyes softened and he let go of my hand, pulling me into a tight hug instead.
"Why do I always make you cry?" Hyunjin sighed.
I giggled a bit.
Hyunjin let go of me and grabbed my hand again, grabbing his dog's leash in his other hand.
"So, Where's your house?"
~
After walking a while in a comfortable yet awkward silence, I finally could see a bit of my house in the distance. I stopped walking, fully turning my body towards Hyunjin.
He looked at me confused. I took this chance to let go of his hand and bow as deep as I possibly could to show my gratitude.
"Thank you for saving my ass, Hyunjin. My house is right there, You don't have to come with me anymore." I said, pointing my hand toward my house.
Hyunjin shook his head, gripping my hand for the third time tonight.
"I'm walking you to your front door."
I blushed again, looking at his hand as we walked to my house.
Oh just wait till the others hear about this.
~
I knocked on the door to my house and waited for an answer. I quickly pulled my hand away from Hyunjin, knowing it won't be a good ending if someone sees us holding hands.
"Y/N, is that you? it's been 30 minutes-" Jennie's mouth instantly hung open at the view in front of her.
She suddenly pulled me into a hug as the rest came to the door.
Oh shit. Here we go.
"Y/N! What happened? Your eyes are puffy!' Chaeyoung exclaimed as the 4 girls started to bother me with questions. I turned my head to see Sehun glaring at Hyunjin while Hyunjin looked back carelessly.
Jennie looked up at Hyunjin and I swear I could almost see the flames in her eyes.
"Did you make my sister cry?" Jennie said, demanding an answer.
"Yes." Hyunjin said without a problem.
I widened my eyes as I noticed Sehun and Jennie getting ready to attack Hyunjin.
I quickly stood in front of him. "He didn't! He actually saved me. I'll explain inside." I protested.
Once everyone went inside I quickly spun around and glared at Hyunjin.
"Do you have a death wish?" I asked.
Hyunjin shrugged.
"I did, didn't I? Besides, I shouldn't have let you go alone. It's my punishment. Nice to know you care enough to save me." Hyunjin said turning around, walking away from the house.
"H-Hey! Come back!" I said as I ran toward him and grabbed his wrist. He widened his eyes as he turned to look at me.
"You're bleeding because of me, let me help." I quietly muttered, loud enough for him to hear.
"How cute. This is will be fun" Hyunjin said with an almost genuine looking smile.
I wish I could have the same mindset as you.
