The proprietors of retail covet your business They pay their workers minuscule wages To accumulate wealth and claim it's fair Money trumps everything
The State legislators covet your attention They pass laws to cripple health mandates To favor their overstuffed campaign donors Money trumps everything
Officials ignore the pandemic death They pretend it doesn't exist To further their political careers Money trumps everything
Controlling climate change is neutered The facts are conveniently ignored To allow the rape of the planet Money trumps everything
Wars are fraught to gain territory Laws are often passed to suppress the poor Celebrities become rich without talent Colleges stress sports over education Tuitions rise beyond reason Medicines are priced out of sight Medical insurance cost rises faster than inflation Justice often turns a blind eye to what is right Wealth has become a false promise of happiness Money thumps everything
