Whenever the land of Hylia is in danger we shall be reborn.

Even at a young age Link was skilled when it came to wielding a blade. His father was one of the head Knights and Link had decided to follow in his footsteps. Link’s mother had died a few months after giving birth to Link's sister and left his father to raise his son and daughter on his own. Even at just 4 years old Link had been able to best many with a sword including some adults. His father could never have been more proud, especially when the king pointed out his skill. Now almost 13 years later Link had gotten even better.

                                                                      . . . .

Once a knight came of age they were sent to the lost woods to hunt for the village of the Korok. If they reached the village they were to find the great Deku tree and in front of him would be a sword stabbed into the ground. They were to attempt to pull it out, if they failed they would return back to Hyrule castle with the knowledge that they weren't the chosen one. If by some chance they were able to pull up the sword then they were to return to Hyrule Castle knowing their new role was to contribute to something larger than themselves.

Link rode towards the lost woods on his horse, Epona. Anxiety twisted his stomach into a knot as he approached the forest. So many young men had traveled here only to return empty handed and Link worried he would have similar luck. He knew that there were whispers that he would be the one to pull up the stone since he had been so easy to train and since he was the best knight of his age. Because of this Link didn't want to disappoint anyone, especially his father, he couldn't imagine how disappointed he would be to learn his son was not the chosen one destined to wield the sword that seals the darkness. Then there was the whole thing before getting the sword, one had to find his way to the sword; if he got lost then the koroks would drag him back to the entrance and he would have to start over. It was rumored that the chosen one would have an easier time navigating the lost woods.

Link arrived at the entrance of the forest and hoped off Epona, when his feet hit the ground a small cloud of dust raised and then fell leaving his metal boots dusty. He walked in front of Epona and stroked her muzzle giving a small smile. "I'll be back soon, wait for me here." Link's closest companion was his horse, she was also the one who heard Link's voice the most frequently. As Link had grown older he had earned the reputation of being the "silent knight" because as he had grown up he had slowly stopped talking as much. It had, and still, worried his father but he didn't pry too much.

Link turned away from his horse and started walking towards the woods. After the incident that had happened a few weeks ago Link's father had been most anxious for Link's trip to the woods and Link's little sister even more so. A little less than a month ago the grounds around Hyrule castle had been attacked and Link and several others had to protect everyone. Zelda had been caught in the conflict and after Link had saved her and brought her to safety he had been appointed her own personal knight. Princess Zelda had not been happy about this of course, she had found it unnecessary.

Until that day Link hadn't really talked with the Princess too much. Occasionally he would see her outside sulking and would try to strike up a conversation but it never lasted long. He had always felt a little bad for her, Zelda's mother had passed away when she was very young and ever since then her father had been pressuring her to unlock some hidden power. Whenever Link saw her she never seemed happy she just seemed stressed and tired. Link could relate. Now that Link was her appointed knight it was his job to follow her on her outings, today being an exception.

As soon as Link set foot in the Lost Woods an unnatural wind blew and sudden fog fell into place. A tingle went up Link's spine and he shivered slightly, this place definitely had something unnatural about it. Walking forward a few more steps Link stood in a small clearing with two lit torches. He had been instructed that all he had to do was follow a trail of torches that would lead him to Korok Village. Although from what he heard the farther he got the more spread apart the torches would be and the harder the trail would be to follow. The wind seemed to be whispering for him to turn back but Link ignored the warnings, he had to do this.

Edit: So for all new readers I wanted to say that I am so bad at writing the beginning part of stories so it might not seem very exciting this first part. I can say that (at least I think) it gets better and more exciting the farther you get. If you are feeling iffy about this story might I asked that you read the next few parts? It gets better and you might end up enjoying it! :)
