Chapter Twenty-Five

Steve ushered you over to him, Sam & Bucky gave you the go ahead. As you sat down next to him you noticed his ring finger. "You marry your best girl?" You said smiling at him, he shook his head, "I didn't." He said looking down and your heart ached for him, "I always thought she was my best girl, it turns out you were actually my best girl, even in that reality you ended up with my best friend." Steve said softly, "I'm sorry?" You said back to him, "don't be sorry. I guess in any reality you would end up with him, he's got a pure heart. He always has. I know understand why all the girls choose him back in the day." He said, "it had nothing to do with his dazzling blue eyes, dark hair and chiseled jaw?" You giggled, he shot you a look, "okay sorry sorry." You said.

Bucky watched as you spoke with Steve, he watched each of your facial expressions and his heart was happy. "You really like her huh?" Sam said, "would you think it strange if I asked her to marry me?" Bucky said to Sam, "not in the slightest. For her to choose you over Captain America, that's something real special." Sam laughed.

"So who did you marry?" You asked, "if I tell you, you have to promise not too tell anyone?" He said, you nodded your head with a smile. "Natasha." He said, you wanted you jump for joy but you couldn't, "you don't understand how happy I am right now. She was always your best girl." You said smiling, "it took me a long time, too long actually too realise that." He laughed, "definitely don't tell the boys, they'll all be super jealous." You said, "I know one man that wouldn't be." Steve smirked, "even I'm jealous Steve. Why would none of the boys be?" You said laughing, "because I know one man who wouldn't be jealous." He said, "let's not talk about him Steve. It's hard enough having to say goodbye to you let alone my best friends." You said looking down, Steve lifted your head up by your chin, "I'm done hurting you. You and Bucky in even a alternative reality end up together. I've watched you both together, I never made you smile as much as he did or even as brightly. As truthfully, I've never seen him as happy as I have with you." Steve said.

Bucky was watching you and Steve, he felt a little jealous but he trusted Steve enough to know that you weren't the one he ended up with.

"I still can't do it to you both Steve. I know Bucky can't. And I don't want to be the reason he can't live a happy life." You said sadly, "I've already spoken to Bucky." Steve said with a big smile, you looked up at him, you had a big smile, "are you for real Steve? This isn't some sort of joke?" You asked him, "I'm not joking." He said, "and I won't lose you?" You said, "I've stood in the way of your happiness for too long." He said pulling you in for a hug. "Thank you Steve. Thank you so much." You said giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Sam walked past you as you replaced him next to Bucky, "you okay Buck?" You asked him him, he nodded his head, "Yeah, surprisingly. I think I've got used to losing him. But it's never forever." Bucky said with a smile, "your going to be okay Buck, I know it doesn't count for much, but you've got Sam. You've got me." You said with a smile looking up at him, "and i for one don't plan on leaving you. Ever again." You said poking his cheek. He chuckled and then pulled you in for a hug and placed a kiss on your forehead:

Steve and Sam stood there and watched you both, "there really meant to be together huh? " Steve said, Sam nodded his head. "Cap, you might want to watch." Sam said pointing towards you and Bucky.

Bucky got down on one knee in front of you, your hands shot up to your mouth. "Y/N, before I met you, I never really knew happiness. Once I met you, happiness was watching you jump for enjoyment went you pinned me to the ground." He said smiling, you smiled as well. "This may be the most crazy thing I will ever do, I know we haven't known each other long at all, and I really hope I'm not dropping the ball on what I think you feel for me." He said pulling a ring out, "but, I want to make you happy for the rest of your life. I want to wake up in the mornings with the same smile just from looking at your beautiful face. Will you marry me?" Bucky asked, you stared down at him, you were lost for words. "Of course I will Buck." You said a tear dropping down your face. He slipped the ring onto your finger and kissed you:

Steve and Sam watched as you accepted Bucky's proposal, Steve was actually happy for you both. "Look after them for me." Steve said to Sam, "when them two become an official team, there's no stopping them. They'll be looking after me in no time." Sam smirked. "Want to tell me about her?" Sam said pointing to Steve's ring, "no. I don't think I will." Steve said smirking.
