The fire sputtered out like a water fountain, damaging but not burning the red gravel ground. A yelp could be heard as footsteps raced against time in order to avoid the burning and painful substance. Of course, the marking won't last forever, but who the hell wants the get burned? At least not him.
The boy huffed and puffed when he finally stopped running, relieved when he looked up and found a bench to sit on. It's been three years since he first came here. When he first arrived to the judgement room, first stage in the afterlife, someone told to stay there. That someone will come over to talk to him and figure out some things. Don't ask him, the boy doesn't know either.
"Hello, is someone by the name Tristian here?"
Green eyes looked up eagerly at the source of the voice. Suddenly surprised to see a little girl holding a golden piece of paper and calling out his name. Nevertheless, he stood up and waved his hand wildly around. "I'm hereeee! Look! Look! It's me, Tristian!" The two locked eyes and the girl skipped over to him. Once she reached Tristian, she extended her hand in greeting.
Tristian took it and shook it just as she says, "Hi! My name is Utopia. People around here call me the Child of Eden. I think you were buried in the garden named after me. Therefore, God assigned me to not only be your guide, but to be your guardian as well. First things first, we need to see if your going to stay in Purgatory or Purgatory jr." This confused the boy a lot, "What do you mean by that?" Utopia looked at him for a while, but then quickly realized of what he mean.
"You know how many people call parts of the afterlife Heaven and Hell?" She asked.
Tristian nodded his head, "Yeah. So what about it?"
"Well that is what these two places are," she answered, "Purgatory is just where all dead people are stationed at until the end of time. While it's counterpart, or rather namesake, is where the dead people are stationed, if they did bad things for the sake of being just bad. Or what some of you would say, for the sake of being just messed up in the head. It's mostly for people who don't repent either truthfully and wholeheartedly through words or through their actions. For you Tristian, you're very lucky. Many times during the course of your life that you have cussed out elderly. Gave the middle finger to Arthur behind his back and sneak out to eat candy with friends. But over time, especially while you were fighting the new devil so to speak, you redeemed those sins. Therefore, you are stationed at Purgatory. Follow me." Tristian let out a breath of relief when he heard that he still passed. After hearing all about his mischievous ways when he was younger.
He soon followed the girl in silence, noticing many souls of many varieties of beings. Even animals as well. He noticed a pet that seemed pretty familiar to you. Unbeknownst to him and Utopia, Tristian went off course and walked toward the hippgoff(I think that's how the original author of the series spelled it) sitting there.
Once he reached the creature, he gasped softly when it spotted him and recoiled, frightened. Tristian slowly reached out a hand towards it, sending in a friendly aura towards the animal. "Your name is...Focalor...isn't it? I sense my mother on you, have you known him?" The animal's big brown eyes widened in shock. How does this human know his name? Focalor slowly nodded his head, looking down at the ground.
The hippgoff blushed in embarrassment when Tristian placed a hand on his stomach, where holes and scratch marks were placed. "I see you met the pet of Meliodas, Focalor." Tristian twirled his body around to face Utopia, who crossed her arms with an amused smile on her face. "Don't worry, I'm not upset. I actually find this adorable. We don't particularly have a specific deadline to get to Purgatory but we don't want to keep God waiting either. The ceremony of the dead starts at 8:30pm in real world time. Right now, it's 10:30am. It usually takes a person around three to five hours to get to Purgatory. Though if lucky, we could catch shortcuts that can get us there faster. Want to know how he died?" She asked Tristian, who's frowning slightly. He nodded his head 'yes,' showing that he's listening.
"It is very sad but simple. He was shot by some hunters after losing his way and being separated from Meliodas. Then this creature called a bear suddenly came out of nowhere. It scratched and mauled Focalor to death."
Tristian then fainted.
