Hank Voight P.O.V

Erin and I were tapping our fingers on the desks at Manhattan SVU. Benson and her crew were waiting for their ADA. We were waiting for one more from my crew to show up. The doors swung open and a man in a fancy 3 piece suit walked in.

Olivia: Sgt. Voight, Detective Lindsay. This is Assistant District Attorney Rafael Barba. Barba, Chicago PD's Sgt. Voight and Det. Lindsay.

He shook our hands and took a seat.

Barba: So? What's going on?

Hank: We're waiting on someone else. They will be here in a few.

Carisi: Who? Why the mystery?

Fin: Just wait. You'll find out.

Olivia and Fin knew who was coming. And here she was. Doors opened and she strutted in like she owned the building. Always confident. Head held high, shoulders back. In a fresh pressed white blouse and matching blue slacks and blazer. I stood up and put an arm around her protectively as Carisi, Barba and Dodds gawked at her.

Hank: Gentlemen, this is one of Chicago's finest firefighter/medics and my criminal behavior analyst for CPD. Lena, meet Rafael Barba, Sonny Carisi, and Mike Dodds. Boys, this is Lena Voight. My daughter.

She stuck her hand out and shook each of their hands. Then hugged Olivia and Fin.

Lena: Where's Amaro?

Olivia: I'll fill you in later, Lena. Now on to why you were summoned to Manhattan.

Olivia took Lena into her office. The men were staring into the window.

Carisi: God bless Chicago!

Hank: Excuse me? That's my daughter. Keep your eyes inside your skull or I'll tear them out with my bare hands.

Halstead: He'll do it too. So just don't test his patience.

Barba: She's a firefighter?

Hank: Yes. Damn good one as well. She's also attending University of Chicago Law School.

Barba: On top of the fire department?

Hank: Correct.

Lindsay: She's gonna be a damn good attorney too. I already have my retainer money set aside for her once she passes the bar.

Erin leaned back in her chair, smirking. Lena came out after her talk with Olivia. Hands in her pockets as she introduced herself formally, pacing as she spoke.

Lena: Detectives and District Attorney, I am Lena Voight. I'm a 6 year veteran firefighter/medic with Chicago Fire Department at station 51. Just like my father in Chicago PD, I'm a Sergeant with Chicago Fire. I'm also an arson investigator for CFD and have a degree in psychology, fire science, applied behavior analysis. I am here because Lt. Benson and Sgt. Voight have asked for my presence and my assistance. Any questions?

Carisi raised his hand. Lena nodded.

Carisi: If you're a firefighter, why are ya wearing that kinda outfit?

Fin: Shut up, Carisi.

Rollins: I'm loving the outfit. And will ask you later where you got it.

Barba: How do you attend law school while working as a firefighter?

Lena: What? Like it's hard? I have classes scheduled around my work schedule and any course that is offered online, I do online. And I'm lucky enough that the ASA I intern for only requests me on my days off from CFD and after my classes have ended for the day. And I still manage to get 8 hours of sleep.
