Everything Has Changed

I woke up in a different room, in a bed. I was wrapped up in soft red sheets and tan arms. I followed the arms up to see the person they belonged to. Rafael. He was still asleep. Smiling as his arms tightened around me. I smiled and snuggled into his arms more. Then jolted up, checking myself. My clothes were still on. Hair still in a messy bun. Rafael woke up, grabbing my arms softly.

Barba: Hey. Hey. We didn't do anything. You passed out on the couch with me. I brought you in here. It's okay.

Lena: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up. I just... Wanted to be sure. No offense.

He kissed my forehead and nodded.

Barba: I understand. But keep in mind, I'm the ADA of the Manhattan sex crimes division. I wouldn't take advantage of someone that way. Now let's get ready and have some breakfast. Alright?

I nodded and got out of bed, taking my bag into the bathroom. I took a quick shower then got dressed, pulling out my jeans and one of Dad's old Chicago PD shirts from his days in the gang unit. I put on my boots and brushed my hair. I walked out and Barba was in a three piece suit.

Barba: I've got court at 11. So would you mind hanging around SVU with Benson and her unit today after breakfast?

I shook my head.

Lena: Not at all. I don't mind.

He smiled and pulled me close, kissing me softly.

Barba: You are wonderful. Most women who came from another state for a man would be pissed he didn't take off time for her.

Lena: Well, I did come at the drop of a hat and I understand your job. Plus I like the SVU guys.

Barba: Don't get too close to Carisi. I think he might like you.

I laughed and nodded.

Lena: Yes, sir.

He grabbed his briefcase and we left for breakfast. After eating, Rafael walked me to SVU and waited until I was inside to walk towards the Manhattan courthouse. Liv looked at me as I walked into SVU with my hands in my pockets.

Olivia: What are you doing here? Hank said you were on vacation.

Lena: I am. I...

Carisi: Did Barba kick you out already?

Olivia: Barba?

I shrugged and smiled.

Lena: We went out on a date last night and I'm staying with him for the week. He's sweet.

I heard a loud cackle.

Fin: Barba?! Sweet?! Hahaha! He's an asshole. Good at his job. But he can be a real asshole. Cold hearted too.

Lena: Well, he was nice and sweet to me.

I went and sat down in Liv's office with her.

Olivia: What's this thing with Barba?

Lena: It was one date. We talked a bit after I got home. I like him, Liv. 

Olivia: Does Hank know?

I shook my head. Why tell him when I'm not sure how serious this could become?

Lena: I'm not mentioning this to him until I know what this even is with Rafael.

Olivia: Fair enough. So, what's your plan for the day?

Lena: Hang out here until after Rafael is finished in court.

Olivia: You can stay in here then. I'll take you for lunch later if you want.

Lena: Sure. Then you can tell me more about Rafael.
