Flashback...

"Thanks" Lauren announced exiting the car. Lauren had called Mateo just over an hour ago asking him if he wanted to come over, he decline her offer telling her he was swamped with homework that he was struggling to do. After the call Lauren decided she would go over anyways and maybe help him with some of his work so they could hang out, so there she stood outside Mateo's front door.

She pressed the doorbell and stood back waiting for someone to get the door, Mateo's parents had told Lauren on numerous occasions to just walk in but Lauren always felt like she was intruding. Finally one of the Martinez's butlers opened the door with a wide smile before stepping off to the side to let Lauren in.

"Good afternoon Miss Jauregui, may i take your coat and bag ?" he asked outstretching his arm for Lauren to place her coat on it.

"Thanks David, my bag has my books in so I'll keep a hold of it" Lauren always took the time out to learn the names of all her friends 'help', she always noticed how no one ever referred to them by there names and it seemed down grading so she made it ritual to learn there names. David nodded in response and informed Lauren that Mateo was in his room, she was quick to make her way up the stairs and down the hall towards Mateo's room. Lauren just pushed into the room like she usually did but quickly regretted it.

She didnt know whether her eyes were deceiving her or not but even after she re-closed the door and stepped back into the hall the image still burned into her brain.

The two culprits soon emerged from the room, Lauren was clued to the floor still in shock when Mateo re-emerged. "Lauren, its not what it looked like" Mateo tried to defend himself but he even knew it was pointless, he knew Lauren saw everything. The pair entered into Mateo's room regardless, Mateo throwing himself down on the bed and Lauren leaning puzzled against his desk.

"I think its exactly what it looked like, Mat" Lauren looked up to her distressed friend who had gotten up and began to pace. "It looked like you were balls deep in Sam McCane to me"

"Lauren, you cant tell anyone. You'd be throwing me in the lions den, you know how kids like that get dealt with around here" Mateo was literally on his knee with his hand together begging. Lauren knew what Mateo would be subjected to if she outted him and she would never put a friend in that situation, ever.

"So, What homework is it you have ? It seemed like you were getting on okay with Biology" Lauren spoke nonchalantly, placing her bag onto Mateo's desk and removing some of her school books from her bag. "I brought my math homework, so maybe you could do my math work and I'll do your other work ?" Mateo didnt know what the fuck was happening, was Lauren actually just brushing it off ? He didnt even know what to do, so he did all he could think to do and that was to play along.

The pair sat down and just got on with there homework, in silence. Mateo could help but worry about whether or not Lauren was going to out him, he had faith in there friendship but you could never be a hundred percent sure with Lauren. She could turn at any moment and throw who ever she pleased into the lions den, Mateo just wished it was never him. Lauren couldn't even concentrate on the chemistry work in front of her, her head just kept replaying the image of Mateo railing Sam.

Lauren snapped herself out of it and turned to Mateo, he was already looking at her. "I'm not going to tell anyone Mat, Calm down. We all have our skeletons in the closet" Mateo could literally feel the weight fall off his shoulders at Laurens reassurance. "I know I'm not going to talk but i know damn well Sam will, he's an attention whore as well as yours" Lauren gave Mat a wink causing him to grimace and look away at his friends phrasing.

"Well, we cant exactly stop him ?"

"Your right but we can make his accusations seem impossible" Mateo didnt know whether he liked Laurens smirk or not but he didnt really have a choice.
