Hollow. That's how Eloise Atkinson felt by the end of the week.
Not only had the group lost Beth, but Tyreese got bit and by the time the group had got to him, it was too late. He was too far gone.
They had found a van they could all squeeze in while they looked for a place to stay. Eloise stayed in the very back of the car, squished between Tara and Eugene. She had barely said three words to anyone. It's not like anyone walked up to her though.
The van came to a stop once it ran out of gas, leaving the group to have to walk on foot. Eloise stayed in the back of the group, watching her feet kick the dust sprinkled on the ground. She wasn't paying attention to what was happening to the rest o the group until Daryl spoke up. "I'm gonna head out. See what I can find."
"I'll go with you." Carol announced. Eloise spun around, worried taking over her body as Carol walked towards Daryl, She couldn't lose another person.
Rosita, seeming to be the only one to notice the girls worry, grabbed onto Carol's arm as she passed, gesturing her head to Eloise. Carol sighed and walked towards the girl. "I'll be right back. Promise." Eloise stared at the woman as she felt all of the groups eyes on her.
Rosita walked over, wrapping her arm around her shoulder. It seemed to calm the girl as she took a shaky breath and slowly nodded her head.
Eloise watched as Carol and Daryl walked into the woods, and she looked back down, kicking her feet against the gravel again.
Rosita, who still had the girl wrapped in her arms, tugged her a little faster to the group since the small herd of walkers catching up to them.
The pair walked in silence until they reached a little bridge to kill the walkers following them. Eloise walked passed the group, they already decided that she would wait until they were done on the other side of the bridge.
Eloise flipped her pocket knife opened and close. "Are you okay?" She slowly looked up at the person asking her questions and found Carl, standing right beside her. Eloise sighed, stuffing her knife into her belt before looking up ahead of her with her arms crossed. "I will be."
It was quiet for a second and Carl slowly brought his arm up, wrapping it around her shoulders and pulling her into her side, letting Lou rest her head on his shoulder.
Once the group finished off the walkers, they continued to walk again, Carl keeping his arm around Lou's shoulder as she kept her eyes trained on the ground.
They found a place to rest and Eloise slummed against a tree between Carol and Carl while Carl rocked Judith back and forth. She hears the zipping of a back pack across the way from her and saw Abraham take out a bottle of booze from his bag.
"So all we found was booze?" Tara groaned out as Rosita mumbled a yeah. Eloise scoffed. "Great. The one thing we find, I'm too young to have." Abraham rose his eyebrows and leaned over to hand her the bottle but Carol quickly slapped the mans arm before turning to Lou. "You are not drinking." The young girl playfully rolled her eyes. "Can't blame me for trying."
A laugh erupted from Carl and Eloise turned to him, sending him a smile to hide her laugh. Both teens smiles dropped when rustling was in the woods. Eloise was reaching for her knife when the things finally walked out of the lines of trees.
Four dogs started coming towards the group, barking at them. Carl, placed an arm in front of Eloise and his other cradling Judith tighter as Rick and Daryl slowly got up.
Four silent pops made Eloise jump back in shock, shoving her head in Carl's shoulder. Sasha shot all the dogs, no look of shock or guilt on her face. Eloise took shaky breaths that hits the back of Carl's shoulder. He turns his head to the side to see her face. "You okay?"
Eloise slowly nodded her head as her senses started to come back.
...
Much to Lou's dismay, she slowly ate the cooked dog before the group got up and continued their journey.
Eloise was now in the from of the group, watching the road as they walked. Farther up the road, she saw a bundle of waters on the ground. Eloise furrowed her brows. "Rick?"
The man turned to her but she kept her eyes on the water. Everyone else followed her line of sight and immediately started running to the water. Rick slowly picked up a piece of paper that was with the water. 'FROM A FRIEND' written across it.
Rick sighed, handing the paper to Daryl. "We don't know who left it."
"If that's a trap, we already happen to be in it. But I, for one, would like to think it is indeed from a friend." Eugene said, his eyes trained on the water like a hungry dog. "Or there's something in it." Eloise snarked.
Eugene, totally ignoring Eloise, runs towards the water. "What are you doing dude?" "Quality assurance." Eugene quickly answered Tara's question. He went to lift the liquid to his mouth but Abraham smacked his hand before he could drink."We can't."
Suddenly, thunder rumbled through the air as rain started to pour. Eloise laughs, facing her head up at the sky to let the cool water hit her face as Carl does the same, opening his mouth wide. "Everybody get the bags. Anything you can find." Rick screamed and Eloise quickly searched her bag, finding an empty water bottle, she put it on the ground.
Judith started crying at the loud noises of thunder. Carl and Eloise searched around for something to cover her with. Eloise smirked as she playfully ripped Carl's hat off his head and putting it on Judith.
The rain started pouring a lot harder as the thunder got louder. "Let's get moving!" Ricky screamed. "There's a barn." Daryl screamed and everyone turned to him. "Where?"
The group ran through the rain, following Daryl until they got to a small barn in the middle of the woods.
...
Eloise was up that night, she never liked storms. She sat up against the wall across the main door beside a sleeping Carol.
"Why you up?" A voice said on the other side of the cabin. Eloise quickly looked up and could see a faint outline of Daryl sitting across from her. Eloise shrugged, looking down at her hands to fiddle with her thumbs. "I don't like thunder."
"Why not?" Daryl asked and Eloise sighed, shaking her head. "Too loud."
Just after Eloise finished her sentence, the doors of the barn slam at the harsh winds. She hears Daryl grumble something under his breath before walking towards the door. "Shit!"
Eloise shot her head up to look at Daryl who was turning around to face her. "Kid, help me out!" Eloise sat up almost instantly, running to the door to help Daryl keep the door closed. As she pushed against the door, she could see in between the cracks of the wood. A herd of walkers coming right to the door.
She grunted in pain as she dug her feet into the muddy ground to keep her posture. She felt people run up to help her and Daryl and soon, the whole group was trying everything they could to keep each other safe.
