Lost virtues

The lost virtues
Gone and forgotten
Respect gave them power
But now, the power has been taken away
Patience lost in people's temper
Lost beneath their desires
One may forget what was right and wrong
Sinful desires satisfy one's hunger
As their rage shakens the earth's crust
Honesty has been bribed to hide the ugly truth
Right speech thrown away
As one's innocence has been questioned
Pride, ego and dignity
Are the only things one cares about
Moral values thrown away
Just because of greed and money
The large gap between the affluent and the deprived
It breaks my heart to witness this tragedy
Yet they are those who help the famished
I hope we will continue to help them too.
