Wave Mission

"Alright. For a next mission you have the choices of cleaning toilets, painting walls or picking weeds. Which do you choose?"

Naruto was the first to speak. "None of those! I absolutely refuse. How about a C-Rank mission?"

Kakashi stood forward. "I do believe they are ready."

Hiruzen stroked his beard. "Well, I suppose you're ready for a C-Rank now. Send him in!"

In, walked a drunk old man with a bottle of sake. "These midgets are supposed to be protecting me?"

Angered at the jab at his height he pulled out a kunai. "These 'midgets' are the only ones protecting your life. But if you think we're not good enough, let's see you fight me, tough guy."

"They'll do!" Tazuna yelped. Trying to retain some of his dignity he says, "You better protect me with your life! The Awesome Bridge Builder Tazuna!"

Naruto only sneered. "Whatever, old man."

Kakashi eye-smiled. "We leave tomorrow at 7:00.

--The Next Day--

The road to Wave was quiet. And boring.

Sakura tried to break the silence.

"So, uh Mr. Tazuna, are there any ninja in Wave?"

Kakashi answered for him. "No, Sakura. That's why he hired us."

"Oh. Right."

Naruto saw a puddle and spoke up. "Hey Kakashi! Why is there a puddle in 70° weather and if it hasn't rained in a week?"

The puddle transformed into two ninjas.

"We've been found out, brother."

"Aparently so, brother."

The both attacked the group with deadly accuracy. Naruto ducked under the chain and Sasuke jumped but Sakura trying to do the same, got a large cut on her shin.

She immediately collapsed onto the ground and began bleeding profusely with the poison flowing through her veins.

Naruto stabbed one of the brothers in the gut and left him to bleed out. Kakashi, on the other hand used ninja wire to tie both brothers.

"Meizu! You bastard!"

"Who do you work for?" Kakashi asked them.

Gozu coughed out, "We'll never talk Konoha pigs!"

"If you help him I'll tell you! Please! He's my brother!" Meizu cried.

"Meizu! Don't!"

As Kakashi wrapped up Gozu's wound Meizu told who they were working for and that Zabuza Momochi was on the same job. Then Kakashi knocked them out.

"Now, I think I'm forgetting something..."

"S-Sensei..."

"Oh shit! Sakura!"

'Influence!'

Kakashi began to fall under Naruto's influence.

'We should just leave her. She is a useless fangirl after all. Just let her bleed ou-"

Feeling himself falling under a genjutsu Kakashi quickly raised his headband revealing his Sharingan.

"What the..."

'Damn!' Naruto thought.

Sasuke looked really pissed. "Why do you have the Sharingan! You aren't an Uchiha!"

Kakashi cringed, bringing up bad memories. "I'll tell you later."

Furious, Sasuke began to shout. "No! I demand you tell me now!"

Now Kakashi looked pissed. "Are ordering me, genin?"

"..."

"I said I'd tell you later, but no, you had to act like a spoiled brat! Fine! I'll tell you why I have a Sharingan! Because my best friend died! He was crushed by a boulder and his dying wish was to use his Sharingan to protect my comrades!" He began to tear up.

Naruto thought to himself. 'Nobody cares.'

Tazuna spoke up. "Umm I don't mean to speak out of turn but...aren't you gonna save her?" He pointed at Sakura.

At this point she was pale, unconscious and in a puddle of her own blood.

"Damn!"

Kakashi used up the last of his medical supplies to patch up Sakura. Sasuke was the one to hold her. Kakashi began grill Tazuna for information.

"Why didn't you say you were being hunted?! You lied about the mission rank! And because of that she could die!"

"Okay! I'm sorry! Truly! But what could I have done? Gato is taking over Wave! We have barely anything to eat and they steal all our money! We have no one to turn to."

"Gato? Of Gato Corporation?"

"Yes. He seems legitimate, but it's a front for his more shady business."

"This is an A-Rank mission now. We should probably head back to Konoha."

"I think we should help him sensei. This could be good for us. We might even learn some teamwork." Naruto said.

Sasuke nodded in agreement. "There might even be some strong opponents to fight."

Kakashi complied. "Alright, we'll continue this mission. But Sakura has to heal."

'Whatever.' Both Naruto and Sasuke thought.
