Olivia
Once I knew he couldn't see me I started to run. I heard Nancy call my name but I ignored her. I got to my door and locked it as soon as I stepped inside. I collapsed on my bed and let the tears fall down my face and thought of what my dad told me all those years ago.Flashback
"Olivia are you enjoying you food." My father said, not looking at me and continuing to eat.
"Yes father, it's wonderful." I lied.
"Then why haven't you eaten any of it?"
"Well because the steak obviously isn't vegan, meaning that an animal is dead now."
"Bloody hell Olivia, can you please stop being such a know-it-all." He said putting his hands to his temples.
"I'm not bei-"
"Yes, yes you are being a know-it-all. Don't you ever back talk me again! Damn it Olivia the is the exact reason your mother left us! Because she couldn't stand YOU!
The last word he said echoed in my mind. Was I really the reason mum had left? I ran up to my room and cried. I didn't come out for 3 days until I had to go to Berkshire again.Olivia
A week passed by and I didn't talk to anyone. Not Nancy, (unless I had to) not Penny, and certainly not Joshua. I saw him occasionally but never looked directly at him. He was always reading now whenever I saw him. He actually was reading a new book everyday, which was quite surprising. A part of my wants him to stay as far away from me as possible but another wants him to come and talk to me. Did I like him? I really had no idea.I took my 2 before dinner pills and grabbed my copy of Pride and Prejudice off of my nightstand. I went down to the cafeteria and the first person I saw was Joshua looking directly at me.
Joshua
I saw her come into the cafeteria. Which surprised me the most was that she was actually looking at me. I watched her come over to the table I was sitting at and stand in front of the metal chair.
"Is this seat taken?" She asked not even looking at me.
"Uh...no." I said scratching the back of my head. I knew it was now or never. "Olivia..."
"Yes?" She said looking up from her book. God her eyes were beautiful.
"I, Uh...just wanted to tell you I'm sorry for what I said." I don't particularly remember what I said to make her so upset though.
"It's okay." Her cheeks started to turn pink "Just, don't call me a know-it-again. Please."
"Okay." I said not really knowing how to continue the conversation.
"Would you like to go to a party with me?" Olivia said so fast and quietly I barely heard her.
"Oh, um, like a secondary school party?"
"Yeah, it's okay if you say no though."
"I would love to go." I said a smirk growing on my face. She smiled back too.
"Well it starts in 30 minutes so you better hurry up and get ready." She said that and walked away, wait did she say it started in 30 minutes?!?I never noticed before but Olivia always wore the same white sparkly ballerina flats. They were cute, but kind of looked like they were for a 12 year old. She stopped in front of a white BMW.
"This is your car?!?" I said in disbelief. I mean it wasn't everyday you say a 17 year old with a 65,000 dollar car.
"Yeah. Well actually my dads car because he pays for it, but it was a gift for my 16th birthday. She unlocked the door and noticed how clean her car was. She kept everything organized and even had a little rubbish bin hooked to the center console. "Do you want to listen to some music?"
"Um, sure." I was hesitant because I was almost certain she'd put on classical music or some shit like that but instead she put on the song Beat it by Michael Jackson. I laughed at the song choice thinking back to when I was 11 and my dad got me a red leather jacket. I got my entire family of 5 to sit down and watch me dance and lip sync to the song.
"Why are you laughing?" She asked with a smile on her face. I couldn't really tell if it was from embarrassment or not.
"I love this song." I said.
"Me too."Olivia
We talked the whole car ride over Madison Presley's house. It tools is about 45 minutes to get there including a stop to get sodas.
"So you don't drink?" Josh asked with an eyebrow cocked up.
I really didn't want to tell Joshua I didn't drink because I was afraid I'd get like my father. "No, I don't." I said looking ahead at the numbers on the houses for 2569. Once I found the house I realized there was already a line of cars in the drive. Joshua started bouncing his foot causing the whole car to shake. Was he nervous? I decided to be brave. I reached my hand over and put it over top of his where it was resting on his right thigh. He instantly looked down on my hand on his a grabbed it.
"Are you ready?" He asked still holding my hand. His hand started to sweat and his cheeks turned pink.
"Are you ready Josh?" I asked with a smirk. He returned it and what he said next made my heart melt.
"As long as your with me tonight everything will be fine."We walked to the door and rang the bell. Maddie opened the door after about 2 seconds
"Livy, OMG I didn't know you were coming?!?" Me and Maddie were friends but not like me and Penny. Maddie was tall, blonde with ice blue eyes and literally the blue print for every pretty popular girl ever. She looked over at Josh and squealed. Maddie's squeals never failed to burst my eardrums into oblivion and I felt Josh wince beside me at the sound. "Liv, you didn't tell me you got a boyfriend?" She exclaimed.
"Oh we'r-" before I could finish Josh cut me off and said,
"Yep, I'm here boyfriend. Joshua Hall." He did an old fashioned bow which made Maddie and myself giggle.
"Well come in, come in. Let's get this party started!"We ended up sitting next to each other on her grey cloth couch. I saw Josh continuously look over at Maddie and I had to admit it made me jealous.
"So you like Maddie." I asked, trying to hide the nervousness in my voice with a cough.
"What do you mean?" Josh asked with a puzzled look on his face. Once he figured out what I was asking he smiled. "Are you jealous Liv?" Wait, did he just call me Liv?!
"What, psshh, no. It was just a q-question." I stumbled over the last word. He took forever to answer and every second he didn't I felt my face grow warmer.
"No."
"Huh?"
"No, I don't like her, like that. The reason I keep looking over at her is because tonight she has flirted with at least 6 different guys while her boyfriend is getting plastered." He said. I guess I must have made it obvious that I was watching him.
"Oh." Was all I could end up saying. I looked up to see Maddie her arms around two guys I didn't know. There was an uncomfortable silence between the two of us until,
"You know there is this girl that I might fancy a tab bit." He did that stupidly sexy crooked smirk of his to try and hide the color growing on his cheeks, but I could tell.
"And who might that be?" I asked softly, the color of my cheeks being significantly darker than his.
"Oh she's just this gorgeous girl with green eyes, and reddish hair. She also wears these adorable white flats that only she could make look good. And s-"
Before he could continue I crashed my lips onto his. He was a bit shocked at first but then opened his mouth so my tongue could enter. I felt his hand go to the back of neck and mine went on his shoulders. Damn, he's a good kisser. I pulled away breathless and Josh leaned his forehead against mine.
"You know Liv," He said still breathing heavy " I was actually talking about the girl over there." I took my head away from his and turned around to see nobody behind us. As I turned my head back towards him, he kissed me again. We both laughed once we pulled away and I rested my head on his shoulder. We stayed like that the rest of the night.
