"How'd it go with your eyes?"

I facepalmed after sending the text, but must admit that I waited in amusement for her reply. Lame or not, it made me low-key excited.

"Great... Your owner didn't recycle you last night? I'm gonna sue someone."

Okay, so she just woke up. I didn't know if I was the one who pulled her out of her sleep, but that instant sarcasm left no doubt.

"They didn't accept me. They said I was flawless."

"*GAGS*"

I'd never seen her morning face, but I had imagined it so many times that it almost felt like I had. It was adorable.

"Morning sickness?"

"Riiiiight. Are you always this annoying?"

"No. Just trying my best to impress you."

"Then don't. I'm not easily impressed anymore. My standards are too high. Sorry, mate."

'Anymore'. What did she mean by that?

"Maybe if you gave me a chance to prove myself...?"

Yeah, I know. I was literally begging her for another chance. It was so hard to go from talking to her every day to never at all. Like I had everything, then nothing at all. I missed her. Terribly.

"I'll think about it," she replied shortly. Then she didn't say anything for several hours, even though I kept texting her.

"So... Did you dream of me?"

"Not a wet dream, of course. Just a big, hard screen spewing out the letters you need to satisfy you."

"Well, maybe not quite like that. But you know what I mean, right?"

"Okay, so I have a bad sense of humor, but please don't ignore me."

"Or block me."

"I'm actually a nice guy."

"Quite unique, even."

"And now I just realized how cocky that sounded... But seriously. I'm not like other guys."

"So... Wyd?"

"Shit! I need to go. I have a meeting to attend."

"Ttyl, pretty girl."

I stuffed my phone into my pocket, and ran off while I prepared an excuse for my tardiness. But it was worth it. Now I was almost guaranteed to get a comment of some sort in return. What other people said didn't really matter that much.

She did.

🎄🎄🎄

A few hours later, my brain was dull and drained from ideas after making schedules and planning my next tour. I had to record a couple of songs this week too, but we weren't starting until tomorrow.

I pulled out my phone and felt giddy when I saw a notification from Carrie. And when I entered the chat, I saw there were several.

"Conceited much?"

"And yes, you do have a bad sense of, humor. But you're lucky because so, have I."

Then there were a winking emoji.

"Can you wink, btw?"

"And before you ask, there's no special reason why I wanna know. I just know someone, who can't."
