Hard Work

Hard work pays off. That was Park Searoyi's principle for life and he tried to make his employees understand that sentence every day.

Thank God he didn't have to worry about the original DanBam crew. He felt lucky that his friends were just as hardworking as he was. Because they were the one who brought his dream and his company to the point where it is today. They were the fastest-growing company in South Korea. And he didn't plan to stop. He wanted to be number one and to his goal, he needed hard work. He needed to push his employees and himself.

Saeroyi realised his success one day when he was jugging late at night. Sometimes after work, he had energy left to go for a run. Just as on that day, he decided to run in the new DanBam's direction. He just wanted to see whether everything was prepared for the opening the following day.

As he was running down the street, he saw the light in the new restaurant. It was 1 a.m. Who was still there and what were they doing?

He came to the restaurant and then he saw her. She was sitting in the middle of the eating area, in front of her a phone, which she was talking to. As if she was filmed.

She didn't see him. Saeroyi tried to enter the building without her noticing. And he heard her voice.

"Yes, so the people who just joined the live stream. Thank you for coming. I am currently at the new DanBam restaurant in Seoul. I know a lot of you are not from Korea, a lot are watching from the US and other countries, but if you want to eat something great tomorrow, come to the opening of the new restaurant! I'll be here too! Yes, so I already gave a tour in the building before, if you want to watch that it will be on my Instagram as soon as the live ends. Now you can ask some questions and I will answer them!"

He was standing by the door staring at her. Saeroyi as usually needed a few moments to realise what Yi-Seo was doing in the middle of the night in the new restaurant. She was promoting their new place. In the middle of the night. After a long day at work, she came here and did some more work. He was about to be very pissed.

What was this woman even thinking? She, who supposed to have a high IQ is still working. She has seen what happened to him a few years ago when he had overworked. Did she want to end up in the hospital?

But she was doing something good. Saeroyi knew how much influence Yi-Seo had in Korea, especially in their target group. If she would wear something, everyone was trying to copy her. If she would say that she will be at DanBam the following day, the place will be filled. They definitely needed success.

Saeroyi wouldn't admit it, but it was kind of cute how she behaved in front of the camera. She was answering questions about DanBam, but mostly herself. She was not that psycho anymore, she looked like a shy and nice girl. Saeroyi almost had to laugh out loud. What a lie!

He was standing there for a few minutes until Yi-Seo noticed him. She then said goodbye to her viewers and her big eyes looked at Saeroyi.

"Sajangnim. What a surprise! Were you going for a run?"

"Why are you still working? It is late. Come on, let me take you home!"

The restaurant was not far away from her place. On the way, they were talking about the company as usual. As she was talking about her ideas for some new project, he was watching her face. He had to admit that he was lucky to have such an intelligent and beautiful partner by his side. She was always behind him and when he would fall back, she would push him up again.

Even though Saeroyi was a little mad at her for working so late, he was amazed and proud. This girl had so much will and energy. He was proud that someone not only understood what hard work meant but was practising it. She was working hard for the company.

Only much later did he realise, that maybe Yi-Seo was not working hard for the company. She was working hard for him. She was working hard to make his dreams come true even if that meant that she had to sacrifice her youth. She was working hard for him, even though he das rejected her. What was that, when not love?
