There are just some days in every human's life which are hard. You are tired, you are depressed, you just hope the day ends as soon as possible and you can go home. There are some days which doesn't go the way you planned. This makes you feel like you are not successful in your life and maybe you should start all over again. Maybe you should just give up. Give up on your job, the people in your life or just yourself. Some days you may think that giving up is the best and only option. Because it would be easier for you and the people around you. There would be no more tiredness or negative emotions. Just giving up sounds templing.
Yi-Seo was living that day. It was not because of work, work went perfectly fine as always, the business was booming. No, it was something more important than work. It was Park Saeroyi.
Yi-Seo was aware of the fact that she had completely turned their relationship upside down when she told him that she loved him two years ago. She knew that things would never be the same between the two, but she couldn't help it. Speaking her mind was her speciality and she wanted him to know so badly. Deep down she was hoping that he would say yes to her love. She was a clever woman, but love through her rational thinking away.
Since Yi-Seo was in love and she said it out loud, she had changed. No one noticed it, because no one knew her well enough to notice. Not even Saeroyi. Because Yi-Seo became more emotional. Not when she was in public, surrounded by other people, who knew her as an unstoppable psycho. Yi-Seo became more and more emotional when she was alone, on her own, thinking about her love for Saeroyi.
On that particular day, she was alone in her home and was thinking about him again. What is Park Saeroyi doing right now? Could Park Saeroyi be thinking about her?
She giggled. She wished that he was thinking about her. But she knew that it was just a wish. Her biggest wish, what may never come true. Because two main problems were standing in the way.
First of all Oh Soo-Ah, who didn't seem to give up. She was calling Saeroyi at least three times a week, asking him every time to do something together. She just didn't seem to get it. Yi-Seo was annoyed by her. And not because she was afraid of this other woman. Soo-Ah Unni was not the big problem. But Soo-Ah was selfish and she used Saeroyi. She used him to suppress her guiltiness. And Yi-Seo didn't like that. But she was a strong woman, who has never lost, especially against someone like Soo-Ah.
So Soo-Ah was not the big problem, what was it? Or who was it? Yi-Seo has thought about that question a lot and she came to a simple conclusion: The big problem was Park Saeroyi himself and his excuses. Bad excuses about the age difference, work, Soo-Ah Unni, the age difference again and so on. Lame excuses which she hated to hear.
Even though she had a very high IQ, she was not able to crack it. She was not able to find out why Saeroyi was hiding behind these bloody excuses.
But she has thought about it too much now. To distract herself she opened her Instagram. Lately, she hadn't had a lot of time surfing on the app and she has missed it a little. So when she saw that Soo-Ah posted something in her story, her hopes for any diversion flew away. Therefore she clicked on it.
What she saw made her mad. The picture contained two plates with food on it. The location was at a kitchen. But it was not any kitchen. It was Park Saroyi's kitchen. That woman was in his kitchen and they were eating dinner together.
Yi-Seo felt like she was about to explode. So that's what he was doing. While she was sitting at home thinking about him and the hindrances in their relationship, he was with Soo-Ah at his own home eating.
She was so mad that she did something she would normally never do. She grabbed a bottle of soju and opened it.
At that very moment, it all went downhill. Just half an hour later she was drunk. And she was thinking out loud:
"What am I even doing? I, Jo Yi-Seo, who has a higher IQ than anyone I know, who is fearless and independent, am sitting here and crying over a man who doesn't even love me back? Me? Have I lost my mind? Why am I even doing this? And how long do I want to continue doing it? Let's just end this. This was a mistake. The first war I have not won. But who cares? Because I am Jo Yi-Seo, who has a higher IQ than anyone I know, who is fearless and independent. Wait... I am also too proud to give up ever... No, this can't go on. I give up. I just give up. Hey, can anyone hear me? I, Jo Yi-Seo, who has a higher IQ than anyone I know, who is fearless and independent, is giving up. Well, then let's call him and tell him that I give up."
She grabbed her phone and dialled his number.
"Hello? Yi-Seo, is that you?"
He sounded a little tired. But his deep voice calling her name started a chain reaction in her.
Her heart started beating as if it wanted to break out of her chest, her red cheeks turned even redder, her hands started to shake and her body just let go and it became relaxed. A few tears dropped from her eyes. She tried to calm her heavy breathing.
All of a sudden she had forgotten what she wanted to tell him. She had forgotten that just a few minutes ago she wanted to give up on him. She felt like her mind was empty.
"I love you" this was the only thing that came out of her mouth. And it was a good feeling to say it out loud like always.
Saeroyi took a deep breath as he started to explain it to her again. He came with his excuses again. But Yi-Seo didn't listen. She was charmed by his voice and the drunkenness made her forget all the words except for those three.
