From out of nowhere, Jingyi began laughing.
His laugh sounded like it came from deep below his stomach, as if he was laughing out his life. "Hahaha! Oh my lord! I didn't think it'd be you who went flying out of nowhere-"
Before he could finish his sentence, another figure came flying.
As a result, Jingyi was knocked off his feet and his high horse. It turns out that it was Jin Chan who sent him flying! "Piss off, man. Let them have a reunion." Jin Chan scowled, getting himself up from the dizzied Jingyi leaning against a tree trunk as well. "What's your deal!" Jingyi huffed before clearing up.
Jin Ling sent Sizhui a shy look, "I'll get up."
Before Jin Ling could get up from Sizhui's lap, the latter pulled the former back down. Jin Ling was confused, "A-Yuan?" He looked at Sizhui with concern, and then he noticed the tears brimming by Sizhui's eyes and caught in the webs of his eyelashes.
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you." Sizhui whimpered. "I'm just so useless-"
He was cut off by a gentle kiss on the nose. His breath hitched.
"And I'm sorry I'm so useless to get captured." Jin Ling smiled. He extended out a hand to wipe away Sizhui's tears that haven't fallen yet. "So don't cry. If you cry... I'll have to cry along, wouldn't I?"
Sizhui squeezed back his tears, nodding along. "Mn."
Jin Ling got up from Sizhui's lap, patting some dust off his robes. "Now then, this Sect Leader will have to see this mission through the end." Before he could say anymore, a fierce corpse stomped its way into the reunion circle. The group of cultivators (and retired cultivator, ahem- Jin Chan) fiercely turned their gaze to the enemy.
They pulled out their swords, while Jin Chan hurriedly retreated to the back.
Jin Ling, Sizhui, and Jingyi each dealt three simultaneous slashes against the fierce corpse's bones. They could hear it creak against their blades, sending shivers down their skin.
"Again!" Jingyi roared.
The two other cultivators joined in, heeding a second attack.
This time, the fierce corpse seemed slightly wounded. Marks were left on its bones. Letting out a monstrous roar, the fierce corpse set its sight on Jingyi, throwing a fierce slash at him. Thankfully, Jingyi blocked it with the flat side of his sword, but was still sent flying into a tree.
"I'll take the left! You go to the right!" Jin Ling announced.
Sizhui nodded without hesitance, and the two engaged in more fierce attacks.
They slashed their swords continuously at the fierce corpse; bones against steel. It took some time for the bones to finally shake, with a dent unearthing itself. Later on, Jingyi joined in the ambush. The three cultivators slashed once, twice, thrice, and on and on. They didn't allow the fierce corpse to strike back.
In the end, the fierce corpse was exhausted of other possibilities and fell down on its knees, immobilized for good.
Seeing that it wouldn't move, Sizhui hurriedly pulled out a talisman, sticking onto the fierce corpse. The enemy slowly deteriorated into dust, no more left of it.
The four survivors shared a happy glance before conjoining a fist pump and sheathing their swords.

"Hmm... I see. So A-Yuan was crying when I was gone." Jin Ling hummed to himself.
He was back in his office in the Koi Tower, signing several papers while balancing a brush on his forehead. It was the sweet life back at his home. Nothing else felt more suitable than that.
Shao Qing nodded, "but Young Master... please don't tell Young Master Lan that I said that."
Jin Ling puffed out his chest happily, "your secret is with me!"
"What secret?" A familiar voice entered.
Jin Ling and Shao Qing froze. Fear was visibly conjured on their faces. "What?" Sizhui tilted his head, "am I that scary to look at?"
"No way! No way!" Jin Ling shook his head, "A-Yuan is the most handsomest!"
"It's good that you know." Sizhui smiled. He carried a pile of papers in his arms, plopping it gently on the desk. "These are the papers from Sect Leader Jiang. He says that he demands an apology from A-Ling because of causing him dementia and stress while looking for him. 'A gift of ten thousand gold should be enough. I purposely gave you a discount' he wrote at the end."
The corner of Jin Ling's mouth twitched. "This damned uncle! What in the world am I going to do with him?"
"You can pay otherwise known as 'give as a gift' ten thousand gold and apologize or get hunted down by Sect Leader Jiang's Zidian." Shao Qing pointed out. Her tip was extremely useful. It allowed Jin Ling to see just how truly harsh his uncle was.
"Give the gift. Give the gift. If I suffer one more blow from Zidian, I won't be able to stand properly the next month." Jin Ling sighed.
"Alright." Shao Qing bowed, "this dutiful maidservant will do as Young Master commands."
When she stepped out of the room, she couldn't help but let out a small giggle. I wonder what sort of activities Young Master and his lover are committing in there.

Jin Ling tugged on Sizhui's sleeves, puppy dog eyes visible on his face.
"Come on! Just one kiss! Just one!"
Sizhui shook his head disobediently, "A-Ling, you know that you still have work to do. Only when you finish the work will I kiss you."
Jin Ling's eyes brimmed with tears, "but... there are so much work! I'll only be able to finish it in a week..."
Sizhui gently smiled, patting Jin Ling softly on the head, occasionally rubbing and ruffling his hair, "then that means I'll kiss you after a week. Simple, right?"
Jin Ling frowned and pouted. He tugged harder on Sizhui's sleeves. "But..."
Sizhui didn't seem interested in changing his opinion. In fact, he left Jin Ling inside the office by himself. The latter could only sulk quietly while struggling to balance his brush on his forehead. "Hmph! Sizhui is so bashful! Just what made him so distant from me!"
Jin Ling sighed, dropping the brush off his forehead, catching it in his palms.
The glass pane window was stretched open, with a feverish wind blowing inside. Jin Ling allowed the breeze to dance throughout his hair, soothing his sadness and suppressing his tears. He puffed out his cheeks. He was determined to find out what was going on in his lover's mind!
Author's note:
Okay, so I was thinking about ending this book //[ZHUILING] More Than Enough\\ around 35 chapters. Which means it'll be ending soon??? Because I'm seriously running out of ideas here, guys 😅😅😅
However, that doesn't mean it'll be the end of our MDZS adventure!
Remember that novel I said I was working on about MDZS, SVSSS, and TGCF (HOB)? Well, I managed to finish 4 chapters (drafts), so after I finish this Zhuiling novel, I'll probably go work on that one and publish it.
