chapter 43

Kristian's pov : 

scarlet started at me as i recalled that night and told her about it , it was sad recalling these memories , i never thought i would ever be able to talk about it freely like this , but being with scarlet had me open up all about my past 

" you know when i hanged up that phone call , i never thought it would be the last time i hear my brother's voice , i just treated this matter as another bump or a problem that we will solve , i even made fun of my mother for worrying to much " i hanged my head low as a an ashamed smile graced my already gloomy face , i felt two hands on my cheeks pulling my face upwards

"don't do that to your self , you could have never known "

"but that's the thing scar , i should have know, i am the one who was mixed up in the mafia world , i was the one who knew what these people could do and i failed them , i failed to protect my family " i felt hot tears stream down my face as my bottled up emotions came out like waves , scarlet stood up in front of me and hugged me into her embrace , i wrapped my hands around her waist , burying my face in her hoodie 

my tears wouldn't stop no matter what , my body was shaken and my sobs were getting louder , i never cried like this in my life and i needed it , i needed to feel safe , i wanted all of this weight of off my shoulder , scarlet was trying to sooth me as she whispered in my ear and patted my back gently but i knew that she was crying too she was living my pain with me , sharing me of my burdens and that alone made me feel better  , after a couple of minutes i pushed myself off scarlet and looked at her red puffy eyes that had two streams of tears leaving them , i wiped her tears with my thump and gave her a small smile and i pulled her to sit on my lap again 

"are you okay ?" i asked her as she snuffled and hiccupped twice 

"shouldn't i be asking you that ? i am sorry for making you remember all this babe " 

"it's okay , i want you to know everything about my past , so you be my future " she smiled at me as she nodded her head 

"can you tell me what happened after you hanged up the phone with Enzo ?" 

i nodded my head as i took a deep breath and continued rom where i stopped

flashback( 6 years back )  the night it happened 

i hanged up the phone and looked at mateo who was sitting in front of me with a frown on his face 

"did you call Mason ? "

"uhm already done , he sent some men to guard the villa were our parents are staying , even though we don't have mush of power over that reign but we still have some influence "  i nodded my head as i slumped on the chair of my dad's office 

"that's good , and the plane should be getting ready by now , hopefully in couple of hours they would be home " 

"yeah , but hell who would expect something like this happening, getting mixed up with the Romanos is bad especially in Italy ,   and thanks to our parents we can't use much of our connections since they don't want us in this side of the world " mateo nagged as he drank from the glass of whiskey in his hand 

"stop nagging mateo , you know our parents did this  for our own good , the knights family was always clean and your dad and mine wants us to keep it clean , that's why we used another name for this kind of things " i snapped as i looked at him with a glare 

"yeah well if we had built our gang in the knights name , not even the Romanos would dare to touch us , but here we are now , in this situation ..."

"grow up mateo , we left the gang because we need to grow up , your gonna be a doctor for fuck sake , i am gonna finish collage soon and take over the business and Enzo is a father now , we can't be as reckless as we were and you know that , the only reason i didn't completely  cut ties with the gang is only for precaution sake and you know that , so stop acting like a child and accept the fact that our lives has changed " i glared at him as he looked at me with a smirk  

"stop lying to yourself dude , you can never leave the gang completely because you built it from scratch since you were 17 , you made the Ombre scure  who it is now and your not gonna use it to get your family out of a situation just because of a silly promise "

"i already promised my father that we both are gonna leave that world mateo and you know that the moment i use the gangs name , i will be back no matter what! and i already talked with mason he said he will do everything he can to help and the knights name in Italy is a big thing , there is no way the Romanos will actually threaten us in there or harm our family , the government won't allow them  , they could lose all of the investments from us and our allies " 

" you know what? you might be right , us fighting over this is pointless  , i am going to sleep i am way to tired , call me if something happens  " mateo said as he stood up and started walking out of the office 

"check on Noah for me " i shouted at his back  

"go it " mateo waved his hand as he walked away until i couldn't see his back anymore , i let out a sigh as i slumped on the chair and rubbed my temples 

"i need to sleep " my head dropped on the headset and i let the silence and the darkness of the night wrap me up like a lullaby as i went into dream land  , and just like that i was into deep sleep with nothing but my thoughts about my family ...
