4. Illusion

Mahir stood in front of the mirror washing his face repeatedly every few minutes. His eyes were blood shoot due to his hangover from yesterday night's drinking. He took a deep breathe and wipped his face with a towel. He just can't believe what his bhai told him a few minutes before. He stood in front of the mirror remembering what his elder brother told him.

  "Hey Mahir can I have a minute with you?" Rocky asked peeping into Mahir's bedroom.

"Yes bhai. Do you need anything?" Mahir asked confused not understanding why his elder brother came to his room early morning.

" I want to you about Bela." Rocky said making Mahir look at him with wide eyes.

"What about her bhai?" Mahir asked.

"Mahir I don't want to beat around the bush. I don't want you near Bela." Rocky dropped the bomb.

"What Bhai? I...I..."  Mahir shuttered not knowing what to say.

"Mahir I know you love Bela." Rocky said with a frown.

Mahir looked at Rocky with wide eyes. Holly Molly his brother knows his love. Only a few people were aware of it and they are his best friends i.e. Ananya, Ranbir and Veer. And he was damn sure that his brother and his friends were not that close to share about his love story. Then who could be the person who told his bhai about his love.

"Don't think much about it Mahir. It was Bela herself who told me about your so called love for her. She told in college how you and your so called friends tried to misbehave and make fun of her and her bestfriend Bani." Rocky said.

"Bhai its not-" Rocky showed his hand to Mahir stopping him midway.

"No Mahir I don't want any explanation from you. But remember now she is going to be my wife and I don't want my own brother misbehaving with her, now do I? So it will be better if you stay away from Bela. So Mahir I won't repeat again just stay away from Bela. This is your first and last warning." Rocky said and walked out of the room leaving a broken Mahir behind.

"How can you do this to our love Bela? To us? To me? Was my love a burden for you? I was in guilt thinking I was spoiling your life by sacrificing our love for our families but never in a million years did I thought that you would betray me like this Bela. I know we have not confessed our love to each other but it was clear like day that I have loved you and even the silly part of me was sure you had some feelings for me. But the truth was it was just an illusion and the worst part is I still can't let go of you because even after unveiling your illusion. What did you do to me Bela?" Mahir broke down into tears.

Mahir fell on the floor on his knees lifeless. The tears in his eyes kept falling as there was nothing stopping them. 

"I hate you Bela. I hate you. I hate you so much. But I hate myself more because I still can't stop loving you." Mahir sobbed.

All moments with Bela passed before his eyes making him helpless. He never knew his love was a burden for her. If he had known before then he himself would have gone far from her. He sat there on the floor lost in his thoughts about Bela. A knock on the door brought Mahir out of his thoughts.

"Mahir bhai are you in there?" Uv asked knocking on the door.

"Yes Uv. " Mahir asked.

"Bhai are you ready? Dad told me to inform you that we are leaving to Sharma mansion in few minutes." Uv informed.

"Just five minutes Uv and I will come down. You go I will come." Mahir said getting up from the floor.

"Ok bhai." Uv said before going from there.

"Where is Mahir Uv?" Andy asked as soon as he saw Uv walking down the stairs.

"Dad bhai said he will come in few minutes." Uv said as he settled himself near Andy.

After a few minutes Mahir walked down the stairs securing his watch around his wrist. Lifting his head up he passed a small smile to everyone present there except Sumitra who looked quite hurt because of his behaviour.

"Mahir is also here. Now shall we start?" Andy asked.

All nodded their heads and stood up to go.

"Dad you guys go. I will join you guys there." Rocky said.

"What? Now where are you going? Its your engagement Rocky not someone else that you can go whenever you want." Andy said with a frown.

"I know dad. But there is an important work left for me to complete. I will reach there soon dad." Rocky said with a nervous smile.

"What is this Rocky? Today its your engagement and still you going for work. What will Mr Sharma and his family think? No today you will not go to office." Sumitra said with anger evident in her voice.

"Mom please this is the last one after this I will be free and it is a very important one too. Please let me go maa." Rocky said.

"Fine." Andy sighed.

"Andy ji you are-" Andy intureppted sumitra before she could complete.

"Let it be Sumi. He will come directly to the venue." 

"Thank you dad." Rocky said before rushing out of the house.

"Don't know what this guy is upto." Andy mumbled under his breath.

"Come atleast lets go." He said and walked out of the room.

Sharma Mansion.

"Welcome Andy. Please come in." Harsh Sharma said welcoming them in.

"Please make your selves comfortable ji." Janvi said with a smile.

"Namaste Harsh and Namaste Janvi." Andy greeted with a smile.

Andy and Sumitra made themselves comfortable on the coach while Uv and Mhir sat on the coach opposite to them. 

"Aree ji you all here but where is our would be son in law?" Janvi asked.

"He is on his way. He will reach in a few minutes." Sumitra answered.

"Oh ok." Janvi said forcing a smile.

After a few minutes.

"Son-in-law didn't arrive till now and moreover the good time for the engagement is passing." Jaanvi said getting worried.

"Wait ji let me call him." Sumitra said talking her phone out.

"No need of it mom I came. Sorry Uncle Aunty actually I had some unfinished bussiness I had to go and complete it that's why I was late." Rocky said walking in.

"Its ok beta we completely understand." Harsh said with a smile.

"Come on we can continue all this useless talk after the engagement." Andy said making everyone nod.

"Ha ji I will call Bela down." Jaani said leaving from there.

Mahir fisted his hands into a ball as his eyes started burning with tears. The girl whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life with is now going to become his brother's fiance. His heart clenched at the merry thought of it. He closed his eyes trying to contol his tears. Taking a deep breath he opened his eyes only to meet with a pair of beautiful light brown ones.
