Dixie POV:
"For pushing, we're going to push three times for every contraction for 10 seconds each." The doctor told me while the nurses were prepping me and the room to push. "Ok" I breathed out. Noah was standing next to the bed moving my hair out of my eyes.
I'm was stressing myself out. I have an oxygen mask on my face because I am barely breathing during contractions. No epidural.I just want him out right now. This is so hard. Yet so natural at the same time.
"Okay hun will you hold her right leg up." She asked Noah "Yeah." He responded. "Babe are you ok." He asked as he noticed I was freaking out "I can't do this." I said while I took the hospital gown off, "Yes you can he is right there. Your so close." The nurse told me. "You got this baby, he's gonna be here soon. Your gonna do great," he told me while kissing me on my temple.
There was so much going on in this room. Because I am only 35 weeks there are like 5 different nurses in this itty bitty room. Noah decided to say yes to med students. Like really dude? So now we have a group of people who are age just in here for all this. While I have my legs up. Everything on show. Noah is in sweaty ass work out clothes. And we're having a private moment. Let's just say I kicked them out.
"Next contraction we're gonna push. I'm going to lean you back. Because I don't think you are going to take very long." She explained "Make sure you are taking deep breaths in between pushes. We don't need you to pass out." The doctor added. I just nodded in response. "Your gonna push like your taking the biggest poop of your life. His head is right there. And he seems to be smaller. Let's get this done." He told me "after he comes out I don't want anybody to take him away?" I said in response. "Of course." The doctor told me
"Ooh Saint Patrick's baby." One nurse told another. "Wait?! Is it Saint Patrick day?!" I asked while breathing frantically. "Yes! See we have special hats for the baby's today with a little green Pom Pom on top." She told me excited. "Baby leprechaun." Noah awed. "Yep, now let's get this leprechaun out." The doctor laughed
"Ok in 3 2 1 you're going to push. Bear down. Dad if you want to film you are allowed just don't show anybody who's not your girlfriend or baby's face. Ok Dixie you can Go ahead." The nurse told me. I started to push as hard as I could being able to feel him start to come down. "1 and 2 3 4 5 and 6 7 8 9 10." One of the nurses riled off. "AH." I groaned as I could feel the pain and him moving down. It was a odd sense of relief though. "Take a deep breath and do it again." He explained. I started to tune everything out and just really focus on pushing. My instincts were taking over. No matter how bad the pain was right now. "Ok, you can stop now." The nurse instructed me.
"Babe I can see the top of his head." Noah told me "Really?!" I asked shocked. "Yeah look he's right there. Look at all that hair oh my god." He told me as he leaned in further rubbing my leg "He is almost crowning." The docter told me "Ok, let's push again" the nurse instructed.
"1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 and again." I continued to push hard trying just get this whole thing over with. I was in a good amount of pain between the stretching and the cramping. "So mama make sure your not tensing up But bearing down instead." My doctor told me. "
I put my hand out for Noah. Really just wanting to be able to clench him. And hold him close. I saw that he was taking pictures. Which partly annoyed me, but I was also happy he was documenting this.
This whole pushing thing continued on for around 10 more minutes. It turned calm and serene in the room as everyone left. The lights were dimmed and it was just amazing. Laying almost on my back was making pushing so much harder. So they elevated the bed at a higher angle which worked really well and his head was almost out.
