Out the window

This has been going for a few weeks now. Me falling for Zach, thinking he might be falling for me too and Hailey getting in the way. God, I hate Hailey. I wish it was just him and I but it's not and I just have to deal with it.

I've made a few friends from the hospital now. I'm friends with 2 groups that are polar opposites at the moment. I'm friends with Sam, Elle, Daisy and Liza . They are all basically the sweetest people ever. They are pretty timid but they are all so nice and they are always smiling. They are literal angels. Meanwhile, I'm also friends with George, Cassandra, Jolene and Kat. They are basically the opposite. They are total rebels who are really dark. They are mostly Zach's friends honestly but I get along with them pretty well even though we don't have much in common.

Today, I was sitting with George's group during our lunch break.

"...and then I toilet papered her house! now she knows to never mess with Jolene Johannesburg!" Jolene said laughing. Everybody was laughing except me and Zach. Zach was texting Hailey. He was looking at his phone angrily. She's upset. She keeps going off about something that he said. She doesn't get his humor like I do.

Hailey started to call Zach.

"Hey guys? I got to go talk to Hailey on my phone I'll be right back." He said before leaving.

George smirked at Kat from across the table. Kat nodded at him.

"Now that Zach's gone, let's talk." George started.

"Umm okay.." I replied.

"We all ship you guys together." He said.

"Umm..what?" I asked. I blushed. How did they know?

"Its obvious that you like him and we think you guys would be great together! Much better than him and Hailey!"

"Definitely!" Kat added in.

"Oh wow! Umm.. okay. But you should know that that's not going to happen. Hailey told me that he loves her. He is not going to leave her for me."

"That's wrong! He told me that he has never said he loves her. She has said it to him a few times but he has never said it back. He said he has never told anyone he loved them!" George said.

"Wait, really?" I asked. I perked up a bit.

"Yep!" Kat replied. "Me and George think he will dump Hailey for you but Jolene and Cassandra don't. They were never that smart anyways."

"Hey!" Jolene said angrily.

"It's true though!" Kat said.

They started fighting as Zach returned. Once they noticed Zach was there, they stopped talking.

"What was that all about?" Zach asked. Before I could make up a lie, Este told us to go back to our jobs.

Today, I did my jobs with Daisy.

"So, Allie, I heard you talking to Kat and Jolene and those people." Daisy remarked.

"Oh! Umm, what about it?" I answered, surprised that she was talking about this with me.

"Well, I heard you saying that you have a crush on Zach."

"Uhh..."

"It's okay to have a crush, it's really cute that you have one but I don't think he would be very good for you."

"Oh...umm...okay. Well, you're entitled to your own opinion I guess so..."

"He's just such a bad boy!"

"Yeah I know..."

"Well, I'm going to the bathroom but you can do whatever you want I guess. I'm just letting you know my opinion."

It seems like everyone has an opinion about me and Zach except him. He probably doesn't even think that us is even a question. He just thinks of me as a friend and I have to accept that.

Once we finished working, Zach walked me out. By now, I had his number but we rarely texted. We mostly just talked in real life instead.

"Hey, Allie?" Zach asked.

"Yeah?"

"There's a party tomorrow night. I was wondering if you wanted to come with us?"

"Of course. Wait, "us"?"

"Yeah. Me and Hailey."

"Oh! Yeah, sure!" I said quietly as I thought of Hailey. God I hated her.

"Great! I'll text you the address."

"Okay!"

That night, after Zach texted me the address, I asked my mom if I could go to the party.

"Mom!"

"Yes, sweetheart?"

"There's a party tonight, can I please go?"

"Where?"

"Umm at a friend's house." I lied. I didn't know who was throwing the party.

"Okay, and will the parents be home?"

"Yes."

"What day is it?"

"Tomorrow."

"What? No, no, no. That's a Thursday. You have your internship on every weekday."

"But I will do extra chores! Please!"

"No is no!"

"Ugh!" I yelled as I ran to my room and slammed the door.

Augustine jumped as I closed the door.

"Allie! You scared me!" She says.

"I don't care." I cry.

"What's wrong?"

"Everything!"

"Is this about that boy?" She asked.

"What boy?"

"You know, the boy you were talking to when I picked you up on the first day."

"Oh, him."

"Yeah. So is it?"

"It's about everything! I mean, Zach's girlfriend Hailey is so annoying and she is so mean and just as I think we might become something, she shows up! Now, we're finally making some headway and he invited me to a party and now I can't go because of mom!"

"Wow! That's a lot!"

"Yep."

"I'll tell you what, if you can be home by midnight then I'll cover for you tonight!"

"Really?"

"Yep! Just be home by midnight Cinderella. If your home any later then the magic will wear off!"

I laughed.

"Okay."

The next night I had dinner quickly before heading to my room with Augustine.

"Good luck!" Augustine said. I smiled as I climbed down from out the window.
