Killing me slow

Zach's POV:

A gorgeous girl has an internship at the same hospital as me? I'm so lucky! The only problem is I have a girlfriend. A girlfriend that I don't love. I'm only with her because our parents are good friends and they are making me be with her. They think it's some type of love story or something. She's pretty I guess and a good kisser but that's about it. She's pretty rude to people also.

I wish I wasn't with her, she was killing me slow!

Allie's POV:
Zach walks me to the hospital but I can't stop think about this. I mean, Zach, the bad boy, has an internship in the hospital? I keep thinking about that until we get to the hospital. We go to the front counter where a woman is talking on the phone.

"Alright, we will continue this conversation tomorrow. Bye!" She says.

"Umm.. hi," I say quietly.

"Oh! Hello dear! I am Rebekah! How are you kids?"

"I'm good, how are you?"

"I'm great! So what can I do for you?"

"Oh! We have the teen internship program today!"

"Okay, great!" She says, typing on the computer. "That was supposed to start 8 minutes ago, you kids shouldn't be late!"

"Sorry." I say.

"It's my fault." Zach says. He smiles at me. I smile back.

"Okay, well Este won't care. It's on the first door on the right."

"Great, thank you!"

We rush into the room titled 'Intern Room'. Everybody stared at us as we took our seats.

"Who are you?" A voice says. A woman, I'm guessing Este, walks up to us.

"We're interns." Zach says. I'm surprised he isn't terrified. He is talking so confidently.

"All the INTERNS were supposed to meet 8 minutes ago."

"I'm so sorry!" I say timidly.

Este stared at me.

"I'm guessing you are Alison Jones." She looks at me for a second before looking at Zach. "And you are Zachary Peyton." We both nod.

"I was expecting this from you, Zachary, judging by your report card but not you, Alison!" Este says.

We look at each other but don't say anything.

"I should just fire you already but you guys are lucky. Betty, my adviser, said I can't fire people because of their lateness unless they are late 3 times or something."

We both sigh.

"Do you know what I can do though?" She asks.

We both shake our heads.

"I can give you both bathroom duty!" She chuckles.

Me and Zach exchange looks.

"Okay, now we are off to do our jobs!" Este says.

Me and Zach decide to do our jobs together. I clean the toilet and the floor and he cleans the sink and the showers. It was gross but it worked.

"Hey!" Zach said.

I turned to look at him and he pretended to bonk his head onto the shower head but he slipped and fell on the ground. We both laughed as I helped him up. He grabbed my hand as I helped him up and I swear there were sparks. I tried to ignore them, I really did but I couldn't. I just had to push all those feelings down because he had a girlfriend and it wasn't me.

After that, it was a bit awkward between us but we were still nice to each other. I kept catching him staring at me and he kept catching me staring at him but I didn't think much of it. I refused to think much of it, it was wrong.

During lunch we sat next to each other and chatted a bit. We finally started to talk like before again. Before the sparks and hand touching and stuff.

"Why did the ketchup blush?" He asked me.

"Umm... I don't know?" I answered skeptically.

"Because she saw the salad dressing!" He answered.

I laughed. The joke was really cheesy but I didn't care. It was just the way he told it that made me laugh.

"Interns!" Este announced. "You are now switching jobs for the rest of the afternoon. Rachel and Austin will be helping the surgeons prep for the surgery.." she started.

I zoned out after that, just think about Zach's curly light brown hair when Este suddenly said my name.

"Alison and Zachary will be making the beds. You guys have done so well with the bathrooms that I will let you do something else. Meanwhile, John and Stephen will have to do bathroom work since you guys refused to make any more beds earlier. Okay, that's all! Now do your jobs!"

I looked at Zach but he was looking at his phone. I leaned over and saw he was texting Hailey heart emojis. God! This was killing me inside. He is so perfect and sweet and she...well she isn't! She doesn't deserve him!

"I'm going to the bathroom." I said quietly to Zach. I rushed to the closest one and slammed the stall closed. I took a few deep breaths and I looked in the mirror. Normally I wouldn't get so worked up over a guy but Zach was different. It was killing me slow to not tell him how I felt but I couldn't do anything about my feelings except pushed them deep down. I came out of the stall and got ready to face him again.

I saw him in one of the hospital rooms and I went in.

"Hey!" I said.

"Hey!" He replied.

"So, how should we split up the job?" I asked.

"Uhh..you do one bed, I do the other and whoever finishes first makes the 3rd one."

"Deal!" I say. I was about to extend my hand so we could shake on it but I decided against it. We made beds for the rest of the day. I learned a lot about him that day, such as he is super rich (which I made fun of him about) and we're planning on going to the same college!

Once we finished working, we stood outside of the hospital and talked on the bench. Suddenly, I heard a car honk. I turned and saw Augustine in a car signaling for me to come.

"Wait one second." I told Zach. "My sister is here."

"Okay." He replied.

I made my way over to the car.

"Hey Augs!" I said to my sister.

"I've told you a million times not to call me that!" She replied.

"Sorry. Anyways, what's with the car?"

"Oh! I rented one. We're going to stay here for 2 months so I figured. 'Why not?'."

"Cool! So why are you here?"

"Mom told me to come pick you up."

"Oh. Okay. Let me just say bye to my friend. I'll be right back!" I replied.

I ran back to the park bench and saw that Hailey had joined Zach too. They were cuddling up together.

"Uhh.. I got to go Zach, but I'll see you tomorrow." I said quickly.

"Allie! Oh, hi! Or I guess I should say, bye!" Hailey said fakely as she started to kiss Zach. I began to walk back to the car when Zach called my name.

"Wait! Allie!"

I turned around, facing him.

"I didn't get your number!" He said.

"Oh! It's-" I started.

"Zach! Let's get to the store I wanted to go to!" Hailey said loudly and fast.

"Oh, umm sure Hailey. I got to go too I guess. Bye Allie!" He replied quickly as Hailey pulled him to the store.

"Bye.." I said quietly before heading back.

I feel like this is just killing me slow...
