"Come on (Y/N), you haven't slept in days, just a little nap, I'll wake you up if he gets up," Sam insisted and you honestly didn't have enough energy to fight. "Come on, I've been told my shoulder is very comfortable," he chuckled and you gave him a smile, sitting down next to him on the small couch, resting your head on his shoulder and letting your eyes flutter shut as you took in the sounds of the Troubleman Soundtrack playing quietly in the background.

After the constant up and up that had been happening the past few days your body finally took the chance to shut down, you were completely out. Like a light. But when you slowly stirred awake and saw Steve sitting up and quietly eating, some takeout Natasha brought him no doubt. You frowned and looked at your watch, checking the time.

"Wilson!" you exclaimed, startling Steve, and Sam who was sitting next to you. You punched him in the arm and said, "Liar! You said you'd wake me up!"

"One, ow! And two, don't look at me, Cap told me not to wake you up."

"Don't you doubt it for a second Rogers, if you weren't already in a hospital bed I would beat your ass."

"Nice to see you too," he smiled and ate an egg roll. "Hungry?"

"Asshole," you scoffed and stole one of the to-go boxes. "Course I'm hungry. Toss me those chopsticks, would you?"

Steve handed you the utensils and you started to eat the food, your body welcoming the nutrition after lack thereof.

"Look I'd love to stay," Sam said. "But I've got to explain how I ended up with a Falcon suit around the same time the one in Fort Meade disappeared."

"Good luck Sam," you waved and he waved goodbye back, leaving the room so it was now just you, sitting at the foot of Steve's bed.

You both stayed in silence, eating dinner avoiding each other's gaze. Five minutes later, after the thick fog of awkwardness had set, Steve put down his food and looked at you with a sigh.

"I'm sorry,"

"You should be," you nodded, placing down your food as well and looking at Steve.

"Look, you and I both know it needed to be done, people would have died."

"Yeah and you could've too," you said sternly. "I told you not to die-,"

"Which I didn't," he noted.

"But I also told you not to be stupid and what you did was the most stupid thing I have ever seen a living human being do. You disobeyed my direct orders which you technically are required to follow because I have a higher rank than you do."

"Wait," Steve said, "Actually?"

"They call me an agent, but my security clearance makes me a Major." you nodded.

"So Major, what do you want me to do about it?" Steve asked.

"Why don't you report for disciplinary action," you suggested.

"Disciplinary action?"

"Were you in the army Steve and were you not?" you asked with a chuckle.

"I was, but what do you want me to do?"

"How about my laundry for a few months and we'll call it even."

Steve gave you a small smile and nodded his head,

"I can do that,"

"Can you also not do anything stupid, like ever again?" you asked. "I know I'm probably asking for a lot at this point considering stupidity seems hardwired into your DNA,"
