Veronica went in the 7/11 to get Corn Nuts. It's been about eight minutes. I can tell Chandler's getting impatient.

Ah, Heather Chandler. My new... Best friend. I can't believe I'm stuck with her now. Oh, sure. Joining the Heathers has shot me up into the stratosphere. But what people don't understand is that I'm now stuck with a demon queen known only as Heather Chandler.

I guess we all have to make sacrifices to get what we want. But it's annoying as hell.

"Y/n, go get her."

"What? Why me?" I protest. She scowls at me in the mirror.

"Because I said so." I sigh, opening the car door.

"Okay, your majesty," I mutter under my breath as I shut the door. I head up to the store and open the door. I walk through the aisles and reach the slurpee machines, where Veronica is talking to my brother. "Oh. Imagine seeing you here, Jason," I say.

"Oh! Hi," Veronica says. She holds a cup in her hand.

"Hey, y/n," Jason says.

"Hey. Did you tell her the tragic story of the Dean twins?" I ask sarcastically, pulling myself up onto the counter.

"Maybe I did." I shake my head.

"You're gonna scare her away," I say with a smile. "Anyways, Veronica, the mega bitch sent me to come get you." Veronica laughs.

"Mega bitch?" Jason asks.

"Heather Chandler," I say plainly. "You know her? The stop sign girl. My new best friend, Jason."

"Oh... Her."

"Yep." I glance back at the entrance to make sure none of them are coming, then turn to Veronica. "How do you put up with her? It's only been a few days and I already want out." She shakes her head.

"I do it because no one bothers me." I shrug.

"Good point. But I guess if you're like Jason, you don't need to worry about that." I look pointedly at my brother.

"What does that mean?"

"You already beat up Kurt and Ram. No one wants to bother you because you can probably do the same thing to them." He nods.

"I guess." I pluck the cup from Veronica's hand, taking a straw from the container and dropping it in. I take a sip.

"Ugh. Cherry," I say. "You two have no taste." I take another long drag from the cup. "Beggars can't be choosers, I suppose."

"Hey, stop drinking all of my slurpee," Jason protests. I stare at him with a smile, sipping the drink almost teasingly, then take the straw out.

"Here you go." He snatches it away.

"Asshole."

"Jerk."

"Weirdo."

"Dick-head." He rolls his eyes and takes out my straw. I give him a sickly sweet smile, ruffling his hair. "Aw, you love me."

"Pft. You wish."

"Hey!" It's Chandler. "Let's move it." She snaps her fingers.

"Oh. Shit. We need to go," Veronica says to Jason.

"So I see."

"Corn nuts?" Chandler snaps. The timing on this one, I swear... I roll my eyes, sharing a look with my brother. We know all about these types of girls. Spoiled, bossy rich kids who get everything handed to them on a silver platter. It's annoying.

"Yeah. They're right here," Veronica says.

"Then let's motor," Chandler says. I sigh.

"See you, Jason," I say. "I'll be home a little later, I think. Stall dad if he asks." He nods. "... If he's home," I add quietly as we follow Chandler. Veronica looks at me.

"So... JD told me you lost your mom?" I look down. "Oh, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked," she says quickly.

"Oh. No, no. It's fine. Don't worry," I say, pausing. "Yeah. Our mom is... Gone." I swallow. "It's been a long time... But it still hurts," I mumble. She nods.

"Yeah. I get that. I mean- I haven't lost anyone, but I'm sure it's terrible." I give her a smile as we walk through the door.

"Be glad you haven't," I say. "And... Yes. It is terrible-" Chandler looks back and glowers at us.

"Enough of your heart-wrenching backstory, y/n." I glare at her. "Come on." I imagine hitting her. I imagine her on the business end of a... Gun. I snap myself out of it.

"Shut up," I mutter. She stops dead in her tracks, turning around and advancing on me.

"What did you just say to me?" She demands. She grabs my wrist, jerking me forward. It startles me, sure, but I'm not scared. Veronica stares at me, eyes wide. I'm sure that the others would hate this. I make direct eye contact with Chandler to show that I won't back down. We stay in a silent stalemate for a few seconds, both of us daring the other to do something. "Repeat that," she says slowly.

"Look, I think we both knew that when you made me a part of this group, this was bound to happen. People like you and I don't mix well," I say neutrally, trying not to give her even a hint that deep down, I'm actually fuming. I pause, smiling. "Let me go, and I'll stop."

"You're on thin ice, Dean." She drops my hand.

"I'll keep that in mind, your majesty," I say with a dry smile.

"Let's go."
