Will left his chair and went to grab a box of tissues for when El performed the first part of their plan. El wasn't actually sure what she was going to do. I've never done this before. I hope I can do this. I can do this! I have to do this. We need to do this. Hopper and Joyce love each other. They just don't know they feel the same way. But we can help them! I just need to do this first.
They're plan was to open the window, let El use her powers to create a huge snowstorm. Bad enough to keep them indoors. But not bad enough to cause any real damage around the small town of Hawkins. Once the snowstorm was brewing they would wait about ten minutes, so as not to look suspicious, and then go out to Hopper and Joyce and inform them of the sudden and dastardly snowstorm outside.
This would be perfect. Hoping that everything went according to plan. Mike taught me that phrase. It makes me feel like a super spy trying to invade a country.... or something.
Will returned to his seat and placed the box of tissues on the desk beside them. Trash can at the ready for the bloody tissues. "Right. Do you think this will work?" Will asked cautiously, looking up at her with big eyes. "Yes. It has to." El replied firmly, standing up slowly and facing the window.
Will quietly unlatched the window, checking that the door was locked too. The last thing we want is for Hopper or Joyce, or both of them, walk in, witness us making a snowstorm to get the two of them together. How would we explain that to them? How?
Once they were both ready, shown by brief nods, El slowly lifted her hand. Eyes focusing in on the light snow falling from the whitey-grey sky above. Her face showed great concentration, as the wind slightly picked up speed. Oh! It's really working! This will work! We can do this. And we'll all be a family. That's all I want. A family. We're not perfect. We were all affected by the events that took place over the past two years. But we'll be a family. And that's all that matters to me.
The wind was speeding up rapidly now. It dragging discarded, shrivelled up leaves from when they had fallen off the last of the trees in Autumn. The combination swirled around in low circles on the patchy grass. El knew she had to focus harder. Put in a little more effort. And then, she'll have a snowstorm!
She tilted her head down further, the blood slowly trickling its way down her nose. Her hand shakes slightly with the extra work being put in by the gifted teenager. Will grabbed a tissue, lifting it to her nose, and wiping the blood. Leaving only a light red stain under her nose. He threw the bloodied tissues in the trash. Focusing back on the slowly building snowstorm, forming outside his bedroom window.
He knew El could do this. She hasn't actually seen her use her powers besides for doing normal everyday things. This was the biggest thing he's ever seen her do. And to be frank. He thought it was awesome. He smiled as the small snowstorm, grew gradually bigger and bigger.
El knew she was close. Come on El! I can do this! Focus. Do what Hopper told you to do. Take deep breaths and relax. I can do this. I closed the gate on that horrible monster who controlled my hopefully soon-to-be brother. I can make a simple snowstorm!
El directed all her powers, seeing the change immediately. The snowstorm lifted high off the ground. Turning the light sky to a dark grey. Snow began to fall. Slowly at first. Building up. Falling fast. Expanding across the sky. Spreading across the town of Hawkins. One last push and the sky erupted.
Snow was falling extremely fast now. Large clumps of white hitting the ground, sticking to the ground, creating a thick layer already. El lifted her head, eyes softening. Her hand dropped down to her side again. She was proud of her work. I did it!
She picked up another tissue wiping the remaining blood from her nose. Making sure no blood or red stain was left under her nose. Hopper would know then. He would know I had used my powers. And he can't know. It would ruin the whole plan!
Will turned, a bright, excited smile on his face. "You did it,El! I knew you could do it!" He exclaimed pulling her in for a hug. She smiled, reassured. Their plan would work. It would. And I'll have not just one brother, but two!
"I know! We did it!" She said happily sitting back on her chair and pulling it into the desk. "No, El. You did it." He said while picking up a crayon. "Thank you, Will." They started finishing the drawings of her DnD character. She was already looking like a badass.
Around ten minutes later they excitedly stood and went to Will's door and unlocked it. It opened with a loud creak that echoed through the hall. The house was silent except from the distant sound of the tv.
"Will, honey, is everything ok?" Joyce turned to look at Will and El in the doorway. Hopper faced them too, soon after. Oh I hope our plan works. Will they believe the snowstorm idea? Will they doubt its sudden arrival? Will they ask questions? Or what if they do believe it, but Hopper decides to go home anyway? El hadn't thought of that earlier and was now really, really nervous for their reactions.
"Have you looked outside?" Will asked them, looking out the window. He's so good at acting. I have to pull myself together. I will not ruin this! "No why?" Joyce and Hopper looked out the window. Unable to see their faces now, she worried, but still spoke up in a surprisingly excited voice.
"There's a huge snowstorm outside!"She exclaimed pointing at the snow outside. She couldn't even see anything, bar the white snow. I did a good job with the snow. It's completeLG white outside. Nobody could see in that.
Hopper spoke to Joyce. He didn't seem doubtful or skeptical. But not mad or angry either. Almost happy? "I think we're snowed in." El was so relieved, she was glad the two adults didn't hear her sigh of relief and the bright smile that overtook her face.
Part one of their plan completed.
Now onto part two!
