"Knock-knock"

Zhan with a smiling face, knocked at his house's main door which was opened at twice by a beautiful lady wearing specs. Though she was in her mid thirty, but still looking beautiful in her simple blue coloured dress, covering her body. Her tired face lit up
immediately as soon she saw her son standing in front of him. With a surprised face, she uttered,

"Z-Zhan?!!"

"Mom!!!" He hugged her as she reciprocated the hug tightly while crying. Her hands trailing at her son's back and head upon which Zhan flinched but endured the pain. He caressed her Mom's hair while gently saying,

"Mom! Please don't cry. I'm here..I'm right here..don't worry, now I will never gonna leave you..shh! Hush! Stop crying Mom.."

"A-are y-you s-saying t-truth? Y-you r-really won't l-leave m-e?" She asked between her sobs and that's break his heart. He tightened his hold as he mumbled,

"I promise Mom, I will always stay by your side from now on. Trust me Mom.."

"(Pulling herself apart slowly, she looked up with her teary eyes) I-I t-trust you son!"

"(Wiping his mother's tears with his own cold hands) It's a deal then, okay? Whoever brake it..?" He asked her and be silent when suddenly both of them screamed loudly while saying together,

"Will have to peel shrimps, hahahahah hahaha....!!" Both of them laugh while entering inside the small sized house which had three separate bedrooms, a kitchen attached to their living room which was more like a small hall with two coaches, five chairs with a little dining table, some old shelf, a shoe stand and a fireplace.

Zhan's mother let his son seated by the fire, on the old chair while she stood hastily with Zhan's bag pack and carried to his room and placed it carefully on a corner without unpacking. Bringing a warm blanket over to resting Zhan, she put it around him to make him warm. Zhan smiled and shook his head a little then suddenly asked while looking to and front,

"Mom, where is Shijie and Didi? I'm not seeing them."

"A'Li is gone for home tutoring and will return late at night and A'Cheng is attending uni but will come late too with same reason."

"He too tutor students in uni?" He asked, totally shocked.

"Yeah, without their help, it would be difficult to pay for their uni fees. " She replied smilingly while reheating food inside the kitchen, easily located from the Zhan's seat.

Zhan, after being warm enough, folded the blanket and kept in the chair while walking back to the dining table. Taking his seat, he waited for her mother to serve him meal. He wanted to help her but her Mom's strict word made him obediently sit at his place. After eating and chatting for a while, Zhan slept for some hours. When he woke up, it was already dusk. He wanted to explore his village a little. So, with an excuse of buying veggies, he dashed out smilingly as a child which was the best way for hiding those unbearable pain.

Zhan was roaming carelessly on the street, around the stalls selling different items of daily needs without knowing that he was being filmed. His each moves, his every action from the city in which he used to live to his village, he was in, everything was being recorded by someone who was keeping a close watch on him and his each action.

After buying enough veggies, he went back to his home. He was happy that he will meet his younger brother and elder sister after few hours, at night. After so long time, he would spend time with his family. Without even have anything, he was happy but there was still a pain lingering in his heart. The blank space would never be filled. The layer of coldness around his heart, was increasing would never be warm again.
