Ryan felt as if she were suffocating in this tiny glass cell. She couldn’t even bury her head in her arms. Her shoulder continued to remind her of the pain she inflicted upon herself, the sudden pangs of pain persisting. She was almost tempted to slam her shoulder into the wall again. Maybe it would magically be healed afterwards. She shook her head at the ridiculous prospect.

The pain shot up her shoulder again. She gave it a glare, hissing, “I get it, you dumb shoulder! You’re hurt!”

Then Ryan sighed. She absolutely hated the pain, but she had to admit it was also helpful. She was able to remain more alert, though she wouldn't have been able to sleep anyway. All she could think about was how she was trapped. Everywhere she looked, the walls were threatening to close in on her. It was as if the cell was squeezing her, threatening to snuff the life out of her.

Boom!

Ryan snapped her head up. Her shoulder had a mind of its own, practically screaming at her for making the sudden movement. She tried her hardest to ignore it, straining her ears instead. What on earth was making that noise?

Thump!

That was when it hit her.

Boom!

The noise was familiar; it was battle, something she had grown fairly used to after being with the Autobots. Hope immediately rose inside of her. She knew Ratchet was going to find her. She just knew it. She shouldn’t have gotten so down so quickly. She wasn’t sure how they could have located her or the location of the Nemesis, but it hardly mattered at this point.

The noise outside got louder and louder. Her heart was beating quickly. Until it stopped. Ryan couldn’t help but feel more and more hopeful as the excruciating long seconds passed. Ratchet, Optimus, somebody she knew and loved was right there. They were here to save her.

Ratchet. She desperately needed to hear his voice again, even if that meant him yelling at someone as usual. Miko had to destroy one of his projects just so he could say his famous words that always made her laugh: “I needed that!” She wanted to sit on his shoulder as he worked all night, pitching in with suggestions here and there. She simply needed to be near him. His presence was all that would comfort her right now.

So Ryan expected them to barge inside the room. They were going to free her from this prison. They would probably fight some of the ‘Cons, hopefully coming out of the battle unscathed. After that, they could get back to their lives. A grin formed on her face as relief washed over her. She was going to see Ratchet again. She was going to celebrate Christmas with him. Even if he refused to participate, she would make him. She was completely certain he would do it, but only for her.

The smile slowly dropped off her face as moments passed. Something was wrong. They should have broken in by now. With all of the chaos outside the door and somewhere on the Nemesis, there should have been no doubt they’d pry her out of the container. Yet all was silent. It was quiet... too quiet.

When the doors slid open, Ryan got up to her feet as fast as she could. She winced, letting out a small grunt in pain. She tried to keep it as quiet as she could. She didn’t want Ratchet to see her on the floor, injured. He would definitely kill her for trying to take matters into her own hands. She didn’t really expect any less from her guardian.

When she met those terrifying red optics, it was like all the positivity was stolen away from her. Being handled by Knockout was one thing, but the leader of Decepticon army… he was pretty much torture on a whole other level. The scars from the battle, from his many years as a gladiator, it made her blood run insanely cold. She swallowed. Megatron was revelling in her reaction, his sinister smirk causing her heart to sink further. The way she behaved, well, it must have been exactly what he had anticipated from her.
