Chapter 6 - Allison

"Alli you have a guest"

"Guest?" I frown. I'm in the office and I'm sure I don't have any clients yet. I stand up and go to the front. Decoteau has a meeting room for us to meet clients or guests.

I come in. A man in a tidy expensive suit sitting alone. His black hair is crop short, his skin is dark. I don't know this man, for sure. I smile politely. "Good afternoon Mr..."

"Bernard. Jameson Bernard, but my friends called me JB" he says politely and shakes my hand. I gesture him to sit and we both sit down.

"Mr. Bernard, thank you for coming to Decoteau Design. But I'm afraid you are looking for another Allison here"

"Um.. Allison Wheeler right? he says. I nod dumbly.

"Then I'm with the right person," he grins.

"Can you explain?"

"Ms. Wheeler, I'm working at Go... a fund management. I just got promoted and my company gave us a huge budget to decorate our very own office. So, I hope you can decorate my office" he says.

"Congratulations on your promotion, sir" I smile. "and I'd love to design your office. Um... may I know where you got my name?"

"Oh, Lockwood. Anthony Lockwood is my best friend"

"Ah I see" I smile. I met Anthony Lockwood in Finland, Ocean introduced to her friends there, including the tech mogul. "Okay then, so what type of the office you want to have, Mr. Bernard?" and we proceed with the design.

"Oh that's great! So when will you go there, Al?" Madison, my boss, asks me.

"I'm planning to go there tomorrow and later I'll start with the design. Today I'm going to find some picture so tomorrow I can show it to him"

"Perfect. Where is it?"

I give Madison the business card.

"The Gold Rich Management?" Madison looks back at me "good job Allison" she grins.

I smile at her. actually I don't even know this company. Mr. Bernard said it's fund management. Maybe I should check before I go there tomorrow.

"And she got another job" comes a shrill voice.

I look back. Nina Laverne, my lovely coworker. I exhale.

"What do you mean, Nina?" Madison asks nicely.

"Look, Madison. It's not fair you give this job to Allison. She is a newbie."

"But the client is looking for her"

"The client is coming to Decoteau Design, not specifically her" Nina shrugs.

"What do you want Nina? You know I like my employee to be a straight shooter with me"

"I want a chance. You know I'm good, Madison. I can work better than Allison.She just lucky to land the Roderick Finland"

I exhale the words 'can you please stop using the word lucky, because I worked hard to land that project' are on the tip of my tongue. But I hold myself. No more confronting other people.

"Al?" Madison looks at me. I shrug "if Nina wants the project let her have it. As long as she stops thinking that I sabotage her job"

Madison nods and gives Mr. Bernard's card to Nina.

Nina grins "I'll do my best Madison." She leaves.
